Weather hit and miss this time of year, when we went oct half term we had rain and wind and a few sunny days but not hot enough for sunbathing. Kids still enjoyed it though.

Weather can be kind of pot luck in October, when we travel to the area that time of year we never get our expectations to high. We have been and had a few days of rain so I always suggest to people to go all inclusive this time of year so that you can utilise the hotel facilities on rainy days.

We were in Majorca last October and spent days on the beach and sunbathing. We were also in the Balearics the year before and had a couple of days of rain but also managed a few days on the beach it didnt really spoil our holiday as it was still shorts and t-shirt weather just went cool at night.

By comparison we went to Tenerife for 2 weeks in October 2012 (supposedly guaranteed sunshine) We had almost two weeks of rain so torrential we were unable to leave the hotel at times!

Thomas cook have some cheap last minute deals to Turkey have you checked over there? Morocco is coming up very expensive at the moment I am afraid. Your cheapest option for that area may be to DIY using easyjet flights?

hahaha your nuts :) You would be upset at how unglam I am - I have to wear a floppy hat because my black hair is like a solar panel and I cant go outdoors without my glasses (although I am a bit cooler now the husband bought me some ray bans because he said he was embarrassed at my reg bams) lol

I would put you in my suitcase but i am a real cheapskate when it comes to luggage and have only paid for one between four of us :)

Nice spot OP so heat added for your post. As it is peak holiday season I think the big tour operators are maybe losing out to an extent to smaller holiday property owners. This is so especially where there are many Brits such as in Spain and Majorca where folk like to book holiday villas such as this Spanish villa: http://www.orangesun.co.uk/gandia-villa/ or Mallorca here : http://www.orangesun.co.uk/palma-nova-apartment/

These kind of sites can offer cheap alternatives especially when booked in conjunction with Ryanair or budget flights. There are also, I have noticed, many airport transfers sites appearing offering cheap airport transfers, sites such as : http://www.hopparide.com/

So, holidaymakers can find their own cheap holiday accommodation plus, if booked at the right time, cheap flights and now cheap holiday airport transfers to avoid high taxi costs at airports.

I do need a holiday myself in any case so thanks for the post, always inspiring to me

Keep up the great summer holidays offers Stacey.
