OK M8!

Thanks for the advice. Gonna get myself an NVidia FX 5200. I've heard if you have 4 of them running in Quad-SLI, the Graphics on Crysis are so intense that your PC temperature is Hotter than the Sun!

Is this true?

Great price - although youll want to swap that stock heatsink and fan with a quieter one. Try the HR-03 GT or buy a card with a bigger fan pre installed.

Bahh...what a lot of rubbish :P

The cheapest 9600GT that I would go for is the XFX XT edition at £128 (from Aria.co.uk), but if you want the cheapest, it's £116. That being said, I would plunge the extra and go for this 8800GT because it is actually better. The 9600GT was released by nVidia to compete with ATi's mid-range 3850/3870, whereas the 8800GT beats those out of the water in games.

If you want better than the 8800GT, get an 8800GTX. If you want better than that, go SLi with 2x8800GT. If you want better than that, go CrossfireX with 3 or 4 x 3870.

Long story short, this is better than the 9600GT. You decide if it's worth the extra £14 (Though personally, I would say it was)

You should get a Geforce 2 MX400 off eBay instead, it'll run twelve instances of Crysis on top of each other!

This is a bargain but i would wait until March as the 9800 cards will be released lowering the price of these 8800 cards by a decent bit, If you do buy a card now the 8800 gt is a faster card than the 9600 gt (which was made to replace the poor performing 8600 cards).

anyone still remember the 8800GTS lol? It has been booted out of the country now :D
Anyways, jocksteeluk is right, ALTHOUGH it will take time for the prices to drop. Good deal, though i'm no fortune teller on whether it is worth buying now or later.

It's so cheap, the shopkeeper probably would let you steal it

The 8800gt is an excellent card, and the 512mb memory is what I would prefer - but I'm waiting to see the 9800 cards to see what happens to the 8800's and just how good the 9800s are.

is the EV a good version Card

Good deal. Abysmal company with shockingly bad customer service, enough to put me off purchasing I'm afraid :-(

Same here - the stuff stuff they used to tolerate on their forums (racism etc.) is well out of line. The owner used to have a picture of Enoch Powell as his sig IIRC and post all kinds of inflammatory stuff (which has since been deleted - wonder why). No way I'd touch Overclockers.

Ive never heard of EV... whats their warranty like?

I think its worth spending £10 more for an XFX or EVGA for a lifetime warranty...

Thats bad. This is a good deal but I usually call them "Overchargers" as everything else is £10-£20 more expensive than ebuyer!

i wouldn't touch this company with a barge pole

zero customer care.
