I know, but the OP said he was looking for a "reasonably priced SSD... for my old notebook".
The Vertex Plus deal certainly fits that first criteria, and safe to assume that an old notebook would be SATA2 only.

Why not buy it, and then just cancel the order if they are and it's still undelivered?

Friend of mine bought over 100 x OCZ Petrol 64GB for custom systems, 83% failed. So you'd hope that OCZ would have worked hard on fixes for this SSD too.

I am somewhat surprised these manufacturers don't appreciate the market for upgrading older machines.

## IF ## the fix was a firmware one, then great; but I am not optimistic the fault was entirely firmware/software
