Agreed. They're the most popular for using alongside a HDD and are usually better performing than larger versions of the same model. Plus the added bonus of competition with everyone trying to get a share of the SSD markets means we're seeing new releases all the time. But if you want an SSD today then this is a great shout!
Oh man unlucky :( Was it under warranty and replaced easy enough?
Yeah my OCZ Vertex 2 died after about 13 months too - terrible SSD drives and riddled with problems - loads of info all over the web about this.
They have a 3 year warranty but you have to return the drive to the Netherlands at your own expense. My Vertex 2 was a 60Gb model. The replacement they send back is inferior too. It only has 55gb (only leaves you around 50gb after format). Might not seem a lot but every GB counts on these drives. The replacement also has poorer performance and rumours are, inferior NAND chips. From what i've read, it probably won't be long before this one dies too.
Don't think i'd ever buy another OCZ drive to be honest. Just not worth the hassle. Stick with a more reliable brand.

I will probably return it to OCZ, but, I imagine this could go on for a few weeks, so may get another anyway. If they send me a new one, I can stick that in my micro server.
The last component stopping me building my new PC!
Thinking cancel the order and go elsewhere, now cheaper a week later!.

Amazon are doing a 1-month free trial of their Amazon Prime. So next day delivery for free on eligible products :-)

That was true a good few years ago, now they wait till the day before delivery to ensure it's as slow as possible (so people pay more for the faster postage options).
You want to halve the reliability of an OCZ SSD by using RAID-0? You must enjoy taking risks! :)

My Vertex 2 120GB also died recently after 13 months - I looked at the reviews on Amazon, and found that there were many horror stories about the reliability of this drvie, so I got in touch with Amazon via their email option, and explained about the poor reviews and asked if I could exchange it for another make. I can't remember if I had to speak with them about this item or not (I did about something recently), but anyway, they took it back for a refund (at the original price) with absolutely no bother - much to their credit - so if you bought from Amazon you might consider this approach too.

I did purchase mine from Amazon, back in March 2011. I will give it a try, thanks for that.
