Edit - don't forget to upgrade to latest firmware before installing - went from v2.15 to v2.22, only took a few minutes using a esata HDD dock I had.

Hardly a good deal here when OCUK are cheaper today. I think people love Amazon way too much.
Mind you, it could be argued that because Amazon UK pay virtually no Tax into our economy, perhaps the deals could be even better.
That is on the assumption that Ebuyer are UK registered and do contribute to the UK Economy.
you can clone the whole harddrive, or just extract the serial number, download trial of Office and use that to activate it.

Sadly that is true, but customer service is excellent and at the moment good price and good CS wins over tax, especially as it is hard to know what companies do pay it in full.

What is the easiest way for a newb like me to go about installing a firmware upgrade on a SSD drive?
I take from your comment that upgrading post installing of an OS is not recommended or is it better to opt for esata HDD dock for the casual home PC builder?

So clone the hard drive then set the machine to boot from the new drive in the BIOS? Any easy way to clone to drive?

I put everything required on USB stick, put SSD in laptop, booted from USB, followed instructions. all done in 5 mins.
then just install OS or copy from cloned drive.
upgraded firmware of my vertex 2 this way, prior to sale.

I guess your laptop only has 1 drive space, so if you got internal drive as first boot option, it will automatically pick up the new drive.
plenty of options, paid and free.
Acronis, Norton, Ghost, Easeus ToDo, Clonezilla, Macrium...

You need to make sure your cloning software supports SSD otherwise you will have a partition offset which you will have to correct via the commandline.

Cheaper then yesterdays £150 from ebuyer. I am aware that OCuK has the price @£140 but i refuse outright to do business with OCuK after they lost a Asus 5850 DirectTouch II that i had RMA'd with and wouldnt own up to it until I had an Asus UK rep who i had contacted first before RMA'ng to put a little pressure on them to find out what happened to it and finally got a replacement after 3months of arguing and waiting.
I know tha OCuK are now owned by CaseKing.de and they have made it priority to improve customer relations but Im not having any of it after all the trouble they put me through.
Amazon has a no questions asked returns policy and I am confident in Amazon that if something should go horribly wrong, I can always get refunded or a replacement promptly
