YET ANOTHER SSD deal - this one's amazing, value ***I know there's another post for overclockers*** but £2.49 is a very small price to pay for the non-cowboy-esque service,

Amazon's CS has been better, is better and most likely will be better, Free delivery on most stuff with no surcharge anywhere in the UK, better reputation etc beats OCUK's new promises any day.
not to mention, that with Amazon's buying power and price matching, you are more likely to find a deal there than on OCUK.

I wasn't criticising OCUK or anybody.
Merely stating that both deals were valid IMO because people will make up their own minds about whether a price difference is preferential to what they may perceive, rightly or wrongly, other factors.

Simple.
He still uses them, and usually pays more to do so. I accept that other people have had very different experiences. But if we are expected to use experience as a guide, I'd imagine most people would rather use their own!
I confess, OCUK have never stuffed anything up for me, either. I just don't shop there because other places are often cheaper.
Of course the place that's never stuffed anything up for me is Scan! And I don't even think you can post links to them on HUKD, so despised are they. :) They ship with DPD, whose service is the best bar none - in my experience! - and that's half the battle right there.
When I first started using eBuyer (04/05) they stuffed up three out of my first four orders, and took a month to resolve each one. I didn't use them again for YEARS. But they're fine now. Been using them for ages, and they usually get it right. (Long time online shoppers who used eBuyer back in the day will remember the horror stories, I'm sure. Now all you ever seem to hear is praise. I do think they've earned their respect back over the years, but I still remember!)
OTOH, I buy from Amazon regularly and they're very efficient, but I've never been wowed by their customer service when it does go wrong.

I'm one of that brigade lol, but I'll be waiting for the Samsung 830 to be sub £150 given the bang for Buck and reliability. Plus it'll play nice with my F3 1TB :-)
you can clone the whole harddrive, or just extract the serial number, download trial of Office and use that to activate it.
So clone the hard drive then set the machine to boot from the new drive in the BIOS? Any easy way to clone to drive?
I guess your laptop only has 1 drive space, so if you got internal drive as first boot option, it will automatically pick up the new drive.

I assume an SSD will not have any heating issues so it will be OK to run from the optical drive bay as the main drive or is that tempting fate?

I've never used ocuk but would rather give them a try for the cheaper option as my experiences with amazon have been truly shocking, so lets just let everyone decide for themselves who they would rather buy from. Simple :)

I went through 3 in less than 9 months. I was extremely careful with my writes too; was just used as the OS drive, no data stored on it. They just seemed to randomly go into panic mode and lock up meaning that you lose everything on it. Most frustrating and put me off of these . . . but the prices are tempting me back now :D
Stop bickering and just use ebuyer, GAWD!
