Comparable to the mx-100 but cheaper at Curry's.
Bought via reserve/collect at my local store, Burnley, but checked random postcodes and it was in stock in all of them.
hope this helps and I don't get to much flack! 1

Thanks for your deal. I've added the price and merchant to your title for you :)
#2
cheers. bit to learn yet!
#3
Seems a gooddeal may use it as a second drive. Are they worth it for a primary drive
#4
This is the normal price, not an offer.
#6
good price thanks for the info ;)
#7
thanks, ordered. at just twenty quid extra for twice the size of the 120 gb drive it's a bargain to me. Heat added.

Edited By: john107 on Jan 02, 2015 14:06: made a mistake.

Put one of these in my 2012 i7 16gb RAM Mac mini a few days ago

Decent drive with over 400mb read write speeds
#9
bought two. one for me one for son. both installed and working!
#10
Good SSD, ideal for any upgrades or builds.
Not the fastest, but non-nerds won't notice.
#11
Hi ,I would never buy this drive as there support is very bad never again .
The drive went to sleep and never woke up again when speaking to them they said they had heard of it but told my to re flash the drive when I looked on the net there where many how had this problem . No help no good support .
#12
wasn't there a high rate of failure in OCZ drives?
or has that been resolved? Also .. didn't they go bankrupt ?

Has that all changed?

Welcome Big, nice first thread, so well done ;-)

Great price, very solid drive, perfect for Ye Olde Windows 8.1 & 10 upgrades..

Tip [for those that fancy doing something, other than Dieting after Xmas!]

Keep all your rubbish and big files OFF the drive, either on a 2nd internal / 2nd drivebay conversion or fast usb3 external and just drag over a film or big graphics|video file [if you do that sort of stuff!] when you need it..

Turn off hibernate, delete all shadow, back up and system restore files [just keep a mirror image of windows with your precious files on a dvd/usb/bluray] turn off all the rubbish windows 7/8/8.1/10 "extras" under advanced system settings and this drive [regardless of ram] absolutely flies along with any cpu speed ;-)

They were a dodgy company with a dodgy CEO who was fired and some of their SSDs were very unreliable.
Now they are a subsidiary of Toshiba who make their own NAND chips so they are a very different proposition.
I wouldn't touch the old OCZ but this is a different entity.

Note. Toshiba only bought the SSD subsidiary of OCZ I recall so not the other parts that made Power Supplies etc.

OCZ in its original incarnation does not exist anymore. OCZ Storage Solutions was started in January of last year (2014 in case anyone is confused) >

I`ll just add -
ensure Defragmentation is turned off (right click on disk icon)
move your Download , Document and Videos folders/locations to another disk (the one you use for data) to add detail to the above posts implied point .

If you have Steam and multiple big games installed , they can be moved off C: to a specified data disc (rather than downloading them again) by following instructions from link below . It worked for me , but at your own risk etc etc .

Just installed one of these and am verry impressed so far , my pc boots in about 6-9 seconds and everything installs sooooo much faster than my old hdd.
Also anyone concerned about reliability , kitguru are doing a test on five of these drives to see how well they last

I really wouldn't worry too much, I've used a SanDisk 128GB as boot drive on my PC (which has a Crucial 240GB, a Barracuda 1TB and a Hitachi 250GB scratch disk) for around 2 years and have just used it as normal. Moved all libraries onto my 1TB but other than that I haven't enabled or disabled anything other than hibernate and defrag. I trim once a month and the drive's health is 100% still.
#23
Bought a 240GB one last week and it was a major improvement over my laptop's Kingston V200 (128GB) SSD I installed earlier in the year. It may not be the very fastest out there but it is a fast drive and excellent value at this price.
#24
I'd be wary of OCZ.

That's not the issue. Nand wear has never been a problem for OCZ, it's falling controllers that is.
#27
For anyone looking to replace their standard hard drive with an ssd such as this one, see my review here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LULVBZG (its the one titled 'Perfect for upgrading your desktop or laptop'). If you do it the way specified, you dont have to mess about reinstalling anything :)

Even if this is a different re-incarnated OCZ, I woulnd't touch it with a badgepole.

It's like having Gary Glitters brother as a baby sitter, something to avoid.
#29
I am the owner of one of the infamous Vertex II. The main reason was dodgy firmware. I was lucky one and had no issues, but never used hibernate and sleep. It was mentioned earlier how to minimize failure, and I moved main TEMP folder out of SSD as well.

Yeah a bit like Samsung used to be really useless with reliability, I'd avoid them too.....:{

This is the problem OCZ face. The uneducated.

OCZ products have been fine since Indilinx days and cant see any issues now that Toshiba are in charge.
As for their PSU's they are now being traded by Firepower Technology. It has many of the same team as when run by OCZ and most importantly the same design engineers from Power and Cooling.

Agreed. It's a really solid drive with good performance just not ideal for laptops due to poor idle power consumption.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/8783/best-ssds-holiday-2014

They also have a top class replacement service which is I imagine there due to their poor past performance which was admittedly 2+ years ago.
http://ocz.com/shieldplus

So saying that the current OCZ are rubbish is like mocking Intel due to the Pentium 4 series a year after Core 2 Duo was released.

But in reality the average Joe upgrading their 15.6" laptop from a mechanical drive would never notice the difference between the best and worst. :)

True enough. I still fall for it at times then I look at the heavy Workstation workloads that they put these drives under in the reviews and wonder what that has to do with my usage. It's the equivalent of my parents buying an i7 Quad core when they'd not notice any difference if they had an i3 costing a third of the price.

It goes to my old iMac next week.
#38
Picked up mine on the 27th December, gone in my 2 year old Dell laptop.

Great drive, if you do a fresh install of Windows 7/8/8.1 then Windows will automatically disable the standard HDD functions once it has run the WEI tests.

With regards to defrag, on SSDs its not a defrag anymore it is a TRIM function on Windows 8.1, suggest people do more research about the dreaded SSD Windows issues from long ago.

I meant when OCZ were running the show. But come to think of it I cant think of a bad OCZ drive that used a true indilinx controller. All the bad ones as far as I remember were either sandforce or marvell (badged everest).
