It's to differentiate it from the original DDR3 which ran at 1.8V or higher so by comparison this is low voltage.
Some LV DDR3 can run at 1.35V @ 1600/CAS7 which is good going.
It’s built on a smaller fabrication process so no wonder the modern stuff does so much better.

personally i'd go for the kingstons hyperx blu,going about, little bit more @49.99 from play or cheaper in other places without free delivery but will do [email protected] got a set running in my rig very nice.
