It is indeed. One for patient people.

It may be a wait but that is an amazing price for 4GB 6400. H&R.

i spent 3 weeks looking for the best ram deals and i thought i would wait for the 'january deals' starting from yesterday. couldn find any so i thought today i just have to go with the geil 4gb ones at £60. but just 15 minutes after the OP's post, i thought i would check HUK one last time before i order the Geil ones and this is what i see!

i guess patience is a virtue.

Good price (nowadays) for good RAM
#10
damn man i got my email confirmation and it says delivery will be on 8th February!

it doesnt matter though i can wait (some more) coz this is still a great deal
#11
Ordered. I just hope it isn't some pricing mistake. It'll be a nice suprise in a month or so if not

Was looking at this the other day, as it would have suited the budget X4 II 955 PC I'm building.

Couldn't justify buying an AM2+ motherboard just for these, as it's highly probable that Amazon won't get any new stock. Went for an AM3 instead and found 3GB of DDR3 1333Mhz for around the same price.

However, I hope they do get more stock as this is a steal, even at the 'RRP'
#13
The 'Platinum' edition is available on Amazon for £93.77, and imagine the performance difference between the two would not be noticable.
#14
anyone confirm this will work in a vostro 220mt bought recently thru h deals...I ask because I am now on my 3rd piece of ram the first 2gb in bank0 on its own a hynix wouldnt post, the second 2gb different piece wouldnt either the third a hynix 1gb piece worked with the existing 1gb hynix so am now on 2 single 1gb rather than 3 as I wanted...
#15
1 to 3 month lead time.....
#16
It's been this price since at least the 27th of December, which is when I ordered mine.

Dispatch estimate: 25 Jan 2010 - 10 Mar 2010

:(
#17
Ram prices have at least doubled in the last 2 months. If you get the ram at this price then it's a bargain as DDR2 ram hasn't been this price for a couple of months.

Will this work alongside my existing RAM that i got some time ago from eBuyer:
OCZ 4GB Kit (2x2GB) 800MHz/PC2-6400 Memory Platinum Performance CL5 (5-4-4-18)

I note the timings for this set is 5-5-5-18 but I dont really know what that means. Will it work with mine that run at 5-4-4-18?

Thanks in advance.

Good find  no doubt these will sell very fast.

these will work fine, to be honest if you didn't set the timing in the bios yourself to 5-4-4-18 id be suprised if they run with these times. your motherboard will just set them to default timing.

you can check timings within windows using this free tool CPU-Z
http://www.cpuid.com

you won't see any difference with the two sets of timing to be honest

Seriously hot price. I got 4x1GB 1066mhz at CEX used for £30, so this is a great deal. I personally couldn't be bothered with the wait though...
#24
So this is recommended then?
And a good gfx card alongside this would be...?
#25
bought these for £30.43+ vat from ebuyer on the 17/01/2009. (yeah, a year ago) Never had a single problem though I was looking to get another set to get my ram up to 8GB but im not spending £86.84 (what they are on ebuyer now)

I might just get these :)

Yes these are recommended :D

How much you got for Gfx card though?
#27
This is a fantastic price at the moment.

Memory costs have went up to crazy prices recently.

For example October 2008 I bought 4 Gig of PC2-6400 Corsair memory for £40.

Looking at it a few weeks back the exact same memory was going for £85.

OCZ are also fantastic memory manufacturers so would recommend this.

As for the Gfx, not sure what would be a good investment really. I don't mind buying mid-range that will last a year to 18 months as I am way behind on games, between XBox and PC. I tend to buy a collection and it takes me that long to get through them. I still haven't started Bioshock, if that's a good enough example!
Wouldn't be able to justify hundreds of pounds though.
#29
I got these last year for just over £80 for 8GB, so not so sure if this deal is that hot, still if you cant find it cheaper elsewhere now, then this is a hot deal!

I cant remember exactly right, But if you look at these on the OCZ website they have a custom built software for overclocking this ram safely!

Yes you can but your motherboard probably wont run 2 sticks with different timings so you will have to run both with the slower timings.

Depends on the rest of your system i guess, i have an ati 4890 that can play every game on full, and got for £130 when it was advertised on here. your looking at similar prices still but bang for buck its still good.

the Newer 5770 is the same pricewise but doesnt quite cut it on performance

Check these charts for performance comparisons.

Good price!

This has made me go into 'build a new pc' mode right now...so I better look away...
#34
Quoted from ebuyer:

Over the last 3 months the price of memory chips has more than doubled!!!!
There are so many factors surrounding this that it is hard to explain.

This pushes the price of the memory up.

Memory, like oil, is traded as a commodity and people specualte on the market likewise.

If you want to look at the factors that affect this product look at http://www.dramexchange.com

This is the longest period of price increase in recent years and I can't see prices falling overnight.
#35
was just gonna buy 2 of these for 8gb , bargain at £80...but its expired now?
#36
Has this expired guys? Can only see "8 new from £81.12" nothing about 40quid... Hope not, because i been wanting more ram for ages! I'm doing something wrong?

Expired....

True, but this was a good deal in the current climate. DDR2 was dirt cheap last year (thankfully when I got mine too) but the prices have crept up in the past few months.
