Great price, I really don't want to spend any more money! lol
#5
2 yr old SSD - but at that price who is complaining
#6
WOW! Make that four Play deals I've ordered this week!
#7
Yeah, me too. I ordered the GTS 250, a couple of these drives for RAID and lots of odds and sods. I'm going to be bankrupt!
#8
Hmm, some reviews for this are *really* bad. Complaints about drive corrupting and so forth :S
#9
Argl these "it can store x minutes of x" figures really tick me off for two reasons:

1. Photos, music, videos come in ferociously different sizes. I see there's some effort to show differences in this case but there's still so much ambiguity.

2. This drive isn't meant to be used for long-term slow-read storage. It's a waste. Granted you don't have the choice in a teeny laptop, but you do in lots of places.

Yep - I just copied and pasted the specs. thought that getting the deal up quick was better than making the description good.
#11
cheap! ordered one!

Ditto, I want this but can't justify it!! Already spent sooooooo much money on the play sale!

Tried to find a review of this hard drive, couldn't find one but came across this. Worth reading if your thinking of buying one http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5810272

Very hot deal, must resist buying!!!

Just went ahead and bought it! Hope the performance gains are as massive as people make out. I cancelled one of the portable HDs I'd ordered to justify getting this!
#15
Ordered 10X thanks, I've got a bunch of laptops to sell on and these should boost their value some!

...hopefully

This is an AWFUL drive, it uses the Jmicron controller and in situations the harddrive will halt for upto 3secs. Avoid at all costs!!!! Voted cold as its such an awful product, you'd be better off buying an asbestos roof!

The Jmicron chip with microstutter?
Leg it!

I assume it doesn't have TRIM.

If you want an SSD, get one with an Intel or SandForce controller.

I was under the impression that problems were mainly when using it in RAID. I've also read reports of people who've been happy with it. Can you add some links/evidence to your claim that it's so bad? Would like to make an informed decision on this one. Cheers.

I have the 60gb version and its not a major deal better than a faster than a standard 7200 SATAII Drive..
#21
I cancelled my order. Far, far too many bad reviews online on Newegg and other places to justify this. Even for £60.
#22
I think what most of us want to know is will this be faster than our current laptop drives? I've no idea of my current read or write speed...
#23
Thanks, ordered 2!
#24
Have a look here on how to keep the drive in good performance.
#25
i hope your lucky enough to get this but i fear its another mistake on plays part and can see some 'sorry' emails arriving soon

** Update. We heard that the drive has some incompatibility issues with Intel P945 chipsets. We tested this ourselved and indeed notice data corruption. A lot of Laptops use the P945 chipset in combo with Atom processors please be aware of this.

Download something simple like CrystalDiskMark to test your current read speeds:

It says Sale item, And it is EOL, so looks legit... But So lucky getting at that price if it goes through.
#31
1st gen, EOL and no updated firmware since 2008 when they 1st came out, so I would assume the price is correct !!
#32
Price missing from deal at Play. Probably another pulled deal :)
#33
Poor reviews on NewEgg. When I get one of these I will make sure its a good one otherwise it is defeating the object of getting one.
#34
I found this review, I believe its the same drive except its 64gb
http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=200&Itemid=1

its a long reviews and discusses the issues it has

cant even find the drive by searching now . . .
#36
Reviewers on Amazon stated issues with RAID and cloning old Windows installations. I am sure it work fine in a modern laptop with a fresh Windows 7 installation.

aw man if they honour this i'm going to feel gutted
#38
Packing. :) Makes up for both my external drive orders today being 'awaiting stock'!

This will replace my 2006 Mac Mini's 80GB drive. Even if it's bad for an SSD I'm pretty confident of a performance boost.
#39
EXPIRED.
#40
how quick did that deal go?!?!?!
managed to get one!! thanks :)
