a useful tip is that desktop ram is normally of the long type (laptop ram is alot shorter), and if it has heatsinks on like this does, then its definitely desktop

I would rather pay the extra £3 and get the 1600mhz Corsair from Scan and the title price should be correct showing full price with P+P as very few people get OCers free delivery, Im going cold on this as its not really Cheap infact its expensive.

£3 more expensive? I can not see that.
Oh I see what you did there, you included the pnp in the price of one, and did not in the other. In reality there is a £7 price gap that's a 20+% differenced.

At least be honest about your price comparisons. Find me the same quality memory at that price or cheaper?

You can not even get unbranded at this price.

They are focusing more on the solid state drive market, and the power supply market.

Why is DDR3 RAM sooo much cheaper than DDR2?!

Why is DDR3 RAM sooo much cheaper than DDR2?!

As ddr2 is old technology, and near enough out of production. hence the supply and demand.

I prefer this ram, as it's lower voltage.

Yes i could see where it was. but your point is still invalid, as it does not include pnp.

Please include the pnp in your suggestion, then lets see the price difference. A lot more than your bull £3 i would bet.

And you have to jump through as less hoops to get pnp at ocuk, as you do at scan. As free pnp at the avforums requires you to be active.

once you have your post count/few months membership at ocuk the free pnp stays.

And better company hardly, everyone has good and bad experiences with different companies. I use scan quite a lot, never had a problem (i live 5 minutes drive from them). And I have also used ocuk quite a lot without any problems.

I have this ram, overclocks very nicely. :3

Currently at 1378mhz with timings of 7-7-7-17 (from 1333mhz, 9-9-9-20) you can go alot higher on the frequency but this works for me.

Unless you have a DDR3 enabled motherboard no sorry. It it is unlikely (not impossible however as DDR3 is backwards compatible with DDR2) that you have such a motherboard, as if it were the case, it would make sense that it already comes with DDR3 memory.

Hi, Anyone noticed any good pprices for 2 x 4gb ddr3 recently?

Thanks.

Oh my god, paid upwards of £80 for this 18 months ago! :(

No, it should be fine for any DDR3 compatible board. It's optimised for Sandy Bridge processors due to the lower operating voltage (1.35V compared to JEDEC standard of 1.5V and 1.65V that some higher rated DDR3 memory used to come with).

You can't go wrong for £28 considering this memory cost 3 times as much 6 months ago.

I don't think DDR3 is backwards compatible. Afaik there are some AM2+ and 775 boards that come with both DDR2 and DDR3 slots though.

That's because you will not find it for £3 more he/she is talking out of their back side

It's on scan today only and is £35 then delivery on top so £38+ inc delivery

To sound smart they were taking one price including pnp, and doing the other without pnp added. And attempting to compare prices.

Yep this is what I found also.
I was going to buy some ram with it being so cheap but think I will just wait until I upgrade everything and do it all at once.

Hot Deal!
I just ordered 2x of these, so will have a total of 8gb :)
I dont see why folk are complaining about prices etc as I have been searching all day and comparing prices, so in terms of decent brand and memory speed it is a great buy! Yes I am sure there are plenty of better and faster mem cards than this but if you can find me a decent 8gb ddr 3 ram for around 60quid then let me know!
But if your loaded with money then go on max out and quit whining!
