what means 12V1 18A & 12V2 18A?
So one rail which would power graphic card would have 18A max and other one(eg. hdd etc) another 18A?
would this be enough for most cards? e.g. hd4850 etc?
I have hd 3850

ordered 2 of these earlier for 2 system builds, glad to see someone else found a bargain! ;)

It can share the power, so upto 36A theoretically to the graphics card if needed (Although would have no power for anything else then lol).

ta repped.
So is it worth to buy this psu for £40 or there is some better alternatives?

Does anyone know how many SATA connectors this has as ebuyer says it has two whilst some reviews and OCZ's website says it has three.
#6
Excellent price,I paid this price for the 400w version a couple of weeks ago, also from Ebuyer.

I had an OCZ fail on my main PC and went out to buy a replacement before finding out that there was a 3 year warranty. OCZ were as good as their word and I sent the duff unit back (2 years old) and got the latest model as a replacement. Very impressed with the way they stand by their products!

This PSU is HORRIBLE - do NOT get fooled by the "stealth" in the name, it's noisy as hell.

Review here; http://www.techaddicts.net/reviews/stealth500/stealth500.html

I've been waiting for a 550W Corsair CMPSU-550VXUK to drop in price but take is a wasting...

Pity this only comes with one PCI-E 6+2 pin... I need two!!! =/////

Hummm just notice it says it only has 2 x S-ATA... could be that they have altered the PSU since the review.

review by: Steve P which was made 14/01/2010.

It runs cool and quiet, has long cables, with a very good mixture of plugs, including: 1x20+4 pin

main power plug, 1x4 pin cpu plug, 1x6 pin PCI-E plug, 4x molex, 1x floppy, 2x sata. I paid £35

for mine over a year ago but upgrades forced me to move on; for instance, it only has a 4 pin cpu

connector but i managed to plug it into an 8 pin cpu power socket via a 4 pin to 8 pin conversion

lead which was very reasonably priced, but when i upgraded my GFX card to a Radeon 4890 i needed

2 pci-e plugs and the OCZ 500w only has 1.

However; i accumulated enough spare parts to build another PC and the OCZ 500w StealthXtreme came

in very handy to power it.

Never thought of it like that but i would guess that one of the 12v rail is running the molex or sata connectors and the other is running into the main board for ATX and vid cards if needed. 18A would be enough to run 2 or 3 cards alone if needed, i wouldn't think the hdd would push the 12v rail much. I have the 600w verson and it's been solid, even since my upgrade to a Q6600, new mobo and 9600GT. I also remember reading once that a two rails with split voltage is more stable than a single, e.i.2x12v 18A is better than 1x12v 36A

Hi, yes I have this PSU, brought it 18 months ago for £45.

As someone else said its not silent, it can be quite noisy for the first few minutes when cold but is then absolutely fine and barable, I can then hear the other fans in my system instead. They have offered to swap it but I cannot do without it tbh, I am quite happy with it.

As for being suitable for a 4850 - YES MOST DEFINATELY

I run the following:

E2180 2.0ghz Overclocked to 3.1ghz
2gb DDR2 @ 960mhz
Powercolour PCS+ (Factory overclocked) ATI Radeon 4850
3 internal hard drives
DVDrw
Wireless card

and it does not even break a sweat... only draws 265w full load at the plug so you'd be fine I'd imagine even with an oc'd i7 with a 4850 or lower.

Oh and just to add, I have run out of connectors which has been an issue for me as I have more HDs but when I upgrade and turn it into the server i will use sata multiplyer cables and drop the 4850 for a smaller card - should be good for 12hdds I hope :-)

Is yours a 400W or do you have this 500W version? Thanks in advance

I need a silent PSU or as near as
#26
Mines the 500w and its generally very quiet but when starting from cold it can be noisy for 1-5 mins... and even for this OCZ offered to replace, if only I could afford to lose my pc for a few days...

Comprehensive review of this PSU here:

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/798/9

Bottom line seems to be that the 400 watt version is the better value PSU for the average 1 card PC although at this price it's a difficult choice.
#29
my ocz 600w is whisper quiet it may depend on what the airflow is like in your case as i think the fan speed is realative to the temp of the psu,i bought it to replace an old 500w ezcool which couldnt even put out 200w under load, someone told me the cheap ones get tired over time and loose efficiency,i went for the 600w as i intend to crossfire in the future but i think the 500w would of been fine..

dcx_badass
My 600w is very quiet. It has plenty of molex connectors aswell, so I just use a molex to 2 sata power adaptors to get a few more.

thanks for the info

If you are referring to ebuyer i agree. i received some terrible customer service when trying to return something. prior to this i generally found them good.

Lucky you. OCZ admit some batch has problem with fan speed control and wanted me to send it back to Netherlands which will cost me a fortune, so I decided to RMA to Novatech, which took 2 months :x
And the 4pin CPU power cable is a little too short as I wanted the cable to go through the back of the board to hide it within the case, have to buy a extend lead (luckily pcworld were clearing those at 98p)

Other than this, its a great PSU from a very reputable manufacturer. Not top end product but certainly beats pcworld craps.

Well not really lucky as I still have the problem because their 'swapout warranty' is not truely swapout and I could not live w/o the psu for a while. Not sure where I would have to send tbh.:?
#34
I had the 600W StealthXtreme. It broke down after 1 year so got it replaced under warranty. The only problem is you have to send it to Holland! And they are not light! Credit to them they sent me a ModXtreme 600W in return...

I would steer clear because of potential RMA issue.

Just a heads up dcx_badass but you don't add the 12v rail values to find the maximum amount of current a PSU is capable of outputting; very few PSU's are capable of producing the maximum amount of current that a rail is rated at, across all the rails, at the same time.

The OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS outputs [email protected], so more than enough for a system running a single GPU
#36
The fella with the noisy PSU must have a faulty one, I put one of these in a HTPC build and it's silent.

This is a cracking good deal for a quality PSU from a well renowned brand name.
#37
seems a good deal

£45.99 now. :x

People tend not to know that most PSU are not made by the brand name, there are a lot of rebranded products out there, like there are a lot of seasonics rebranded.

TBH OCZ PSUs are cheap i have one and its efficiency and stability has dropped, the voltages are a bit off the mark after a few years of use. Looking to get a proper brand name psu with good stability.

On the other hand their ram is top notch even the cheap stuff is good!
