Official Apple cable. I know you can get unofficial cables for less but some people like buying official so for people wanting the official cable, this is a good deal, no?

£15 on the Apple website. Same on Play.com. More than that on Misco and Expansys.

You can possibly hunt for a while online and find it a tad cheaper but this is at Tesco Extra (Durrington, probably nationwide) so you can pop in to get one whenever you like and not have to wait. Hurrah!

Good price, doubt they'll have any in my local but need one of these as my 3GS only works with a 3rd party one I bought when it chooses to.

No probs. Here is the link to the product on the Apple site - http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MA591G/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY

Manufacturing code is MA591G/A.

People always complain about the overpriced nature of iPods and iPhones etc but everyone forgets you are also getting £15 worth of cable.
#5
Good deal, hope they have them in my Tesco extra, my cable is knackered after only 6 months lol

Oh Purrrrleahse.

You are getting 50p worth of cable and paying £15 for it. Anyone who coughs £6 for a 'cheap' cable really should be buying 6 £1 cables from poundland and giving the five extra ones to their friends.

I never hear about people complaining of the prices for their iPods and iPhones, more about the accessories. It is not £15 worth of cable as the cable costs pennies to make, the box may well have been the majority of the cost here!

Wrong - for whatever reason, the iPhone (at least the 3GS) knows when the official cable is being used, and will try not to charge/sync/whatever with the poundland ones, although as I said before it does on and off. Yes they make a huge mark up on the wire, but there is no working alternative for some of us, so we must put up with it.

I don't understand why you would want to buy this, I got confused thinking this is a docking station and thought it was worth it but £6 for a cable is very dear. I'm not rich (well if i was i wouldn't be on Hot UK Deals) but I can't afford this (well i can) but can't justify spending so much on a cable...

I've gotta say this is a good deal at the end of it and nice find but not something i would invest in.
#10
I bought the same one from them for £9.99 so £6 is the right way to go. Heat added.

Is Apple a subsidiary of MONSTER cables? They both seem to have the same high disregard for consumers. Company mottos; ‘There’s a sucka born every minute’.

I use a cable i bought off dealextreme for less than a pound.... and it works 100% fine.

I'm sure Monster could still bring out a gold plated dock connector for £90

Cold. Overpriced cable which can be purchased for far less yet being just as good from a third party manufacturer. Only a true cult Apple fan would pay the extra cash for products, and to be honest they deserve to lose their money.

How strange:?:

Well until Apple recently blocked my third party AV cable in there firmware update it worked perfectly for a pound, and even if there official one is slightly better quality its definitely not £36.00's worth of cable.
I wouldn't mind paying extra for an official AV cable, but not £35.00 more and even though I like my Apple product a lot, they do overcharge more than most other companies for official accessories.

Hot price for this cable though
#18
not that great - you can get the non official cables @ dealextreme for about $1.50 delivered...they arent as great but work fine
having siad that i nearly smashed my iphone - sick and tired of apple's insistance on not being able to connect properly to anything other than an apple product

i still got the cable that came with my 3gs, but i need a longer one. ones in the £ shop are the same size.. any ideas who sells the longer cables?

Wrong, I have a 3GS and use a £2 FeeBay Cable which works 100% same as Apple's extra special gloss white special edition cable. The moral of this thread is that all cheap cable's are not the same, but there are plenty of cheap cables around that work the same as Apple's.
#21
Apple for computing is what Justin Bieber is for music, cute but really ***** and overrated
#22
definately overpriced... even at £6

in relation to the £ land cables they work just aswell and (depending on the type) are more robust. my official cable is starting to show exposed wires at the connectors. Anyway these probably only cost less the 50p to create anyway so there is no justification for pay £15 or even £6.
#23
The official price is the official price. And this is a considerable saving on that. Whether people want to buy unofficial is irrelevant here.

Then there's something wrong with your iPod or computer. £1 cables are exactly the same, they're just data cables, complete nonsense.

Again, not true - it doesn't know when a different cable is being used, it does sync on Poundland ones as I use them on my own iPhone at work, home and wherever else I am. There is a working alternative, you're spreading misinformation. A cable is a cable, it's nothing special - all of them work the same.
#26
The cable does not cost 50p to make. just for comparison of production cost i know that some UK wholesalers are selling at 45p same like pound land ones. it means it cost way less than 50p. These are data cable like usb cable, memory cardreader etc and i doubt that just a firmware update will stop cable working there may be something wrong with firmware.

Overpriced
#27
Apple is really overpriced and soon you will hear the burst just like IBM. it is just a competitor is required.

IBM once was really overpriced i understand the quality factor but they were charging way too much for their systems. But once competitors started giving same quality at less than half price IBM was charging (Like Dell) company saw significant reduction in profit and even sold one of its department to china company and now all they doing is consultancy.
#28
cheers, picked one up from sale. I hate budget cables, they never seem to last once you have folded them up a few times.

another plank who thinks all cables are the same just because digital transmissions are sent across it i bet.....cables are NOT the same.....build quality, built and tested to a certain spec, etc
I have cheap ones and apple ones.....the apple ones are far far better than the cheap ones eg from dealextreme.....but they arent 10-20 times better.....i always buy the dealextreme ones as they work fine just the build quality sucks...butfor the price difference ill put up with it

they sold their laptop division to lenovo (of china) in 2004-5, making lenovo the 3rd largest computer company the in world
ibm consultancy sucks too, they think they invented everything.

This is great, thanks for posting! Although my 3gs is in mint condition, the cable is frayed at one end, and it hasn't even been over used.....since I'm going to sell my iPhone with accessories, this will be perfect as I wouldn't want to give mine to anyone...!!
Hope I can find one in my locals....they'r eall metros and express....
