Yes apple accessories are a rip off. This is£29 from Apple, so for someone who wants a genuine apple cable (and this is one of only a few retailers I'd trust for genuine apple products), this is a good deal. Better to buy a good quality certified cable IMHO, but I do think this deal deserves some heat, so hot from me. Merry Xmas.

what a rip off even reduced. the braided ones on amazon and ebay last longer are smarter looking and are a fraction of the price.

It'll go cold because only rubbish items that have something like 2p off the rrp go hot on this site these days.

This probably costs about 5p to make.

Heck, you can buy a whole smartphone for this money, and there would still be a profit margin in it.
