This is the old style composite cable should work with all ipods/iphones. The new version does not come with a wall plug i think, and apple actually sell the wall plug (its just a USB wall plug , you can plug any usb into it) for £25 on its own. (RRP for this is 30)

Clearance seen in two M&S ...bluewater and colliers Wood ...Although i got the last in bluewater.

In the Box:
Compsite AV cable
USB Wall plug (mains to usb)

EDIT: forgot to mention the USB wall plug has both UK and 2 pin (european) attachments so can be used for travel.

Where does a USB wall plug come into this? Surely it is a simple composite audio visual lead?

...hmm perhaps u didnt read the description?....you get a wall plug that you can plug usb into.....its meant for you to plug your ipod/iphone in so it doesnt drain the battery while watching a vid on a tv?....but you can use this wall plug for anything with a usb...as it is just a USB wall socket?...

hmm perhaps I didn't. I did read your much rewritten OP though and voted it cold.

A few months ago I was looking for one of these for my iPhone so I could plug it into the gym machines to watch videos, and could not find one cheaper than £30 (the cheapies have not worked since firmware 2.2). Voted hot, still handy when visiting most hotels with an AV connection TV - much better than the standard channels!!

Hot! I would love for people to explain why this is cold. It clearly says in the title INSTORE so obviously the link will not work. These are about 30-35 in most stores. Absolutely great price from M & S.

And with the usb, it is built into the cable. The cable splits at the end - composite jacks and usb at one end, then the standard apple ipod 30 pin connector at the other end. So you can charge and output video at the same time. Edit: Added pictures.

not really sure why its so cold either...a usb wall plug with interchangable uk and euro pins is worth £5-8 imo...and so you're getting the cables themselves for like 7-10?....

Exactly, as someone else said the usb plug alone is worth 20 alone. Never seen these anything like this low!

Also agree that its rather odd that people are voting cold on this without explaining why. Tut tut.

Great price, and as mentioned, you get a USB power adpater with this to charge your iPods/iPhones which is normally £25 retail price on its own.

This is probably reduced however because they have now released new versions of these in white coloured boxes which do not include the USB power adapter anymore and cost about £30 retail. The new versions as far as I'm aware are a lot more 'compatible' than this version.

Do you think you could power the usb with the port on your tv doing away with the plug?

True, dont know about compatiblity though, i know this is compatible with ipod touch 2nd gen as i am using it and i dont think they have changed anything really?..i know on the old ipod videos you could output video through the headphone jack... but maybe you're right

Heat added as these are rarely less than £30, after looking all over the place I got one off amazon for about £18+ last year which was a price I was really pleased with.
Does anyone know if there is a way to watch Sky mobile app on your tv using this, cause as far as I know they have prevented people from doing this?

you can get an Ipod composite out cable at Poundland ...... for a pound. Ok so it doesn't have the USB bit but this may be the reason some people are voting cold.

These are well known to have stopped working beyond 2.2 firmware. Seeing as we are now on 4.1.1, this is quite an issue. These official ones contain a chip, which the ipod / iphone verifies then allows to connect. The cheapo's do not.

wiliamj1 is right. Also i have never seen an ipod composite out (using ipod connector) at poundland maybe a normal composite to 3.5mm headphone jack.

Have you not? Here is one of the dozen or more times such a thing has appeared on this website then. Not a normal composite to 3.5mm headphone jack:

my bad......

Only thing with that is you need to jailbreak to be able to use it...which isnt that hard but not for everyone.

Regarding compatibility, tons of people couldn't seem to get these to work on their iPhones or iPads, even if a friend with exactly the same product had theirs working fine. I have no idea why this is, but now later on, they've released a new edition so I assume they will have fixed these issues.

I begrudge buying any official apple hear now but looks like there's no choice having tried a couple of the generic ones. I therefore have to vote hot... Begrudgingly!?!
