From what I can tell, the n adaptor doesn't officially launch until this Friday (27/11/09). Play.com is the cheapest I've seen at £54.99. Complete price gouge IMO.

Same price as this when it came out. Fairly expensive... Is it worth getting over the original? I had the original and it worked great for me.

Wow, I hadn't realised the Xbox doesn't come with wireless! Mind you, it doesn't have Blu-Ray either and you have to pay to go online....(bait set)

Seriously though, even at £35 it's still very expensive for a wifi adapter which normally cost about £10 for a PC (which the Xbox is). Bill Gates is laughing all the way to the bank.
#18
Erm , except this isn't a wireless adapter, it's a wireless bridge!
#19
the n adapter been on sale in asda for couple of weeks now cost £50 great deal

No it's not. It's a wireless adapter.

A wireless 'Bridge' by its very obviously named definition is a device that 'bridges' networks, usually wireless and wired. This does no such thing, it's just a simple USB 802.11a/b/g wireless adapter.

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/home/product/31460/TP-Link-108M-Wireless-Access-Point-TL-WA601G is a cheaper option but you'd need a bit of tech know how to enable bridge mode and get it to connect to your access point. It would also require a separate power supply. TP Link are Chinese and very cheap but their stuff seems to be decent enough.

MS are taking the **** with their crazy mark-ups on accessories. Who do they think they are? PC World?

Next they'll be putting sandard 2.5" Hard Drives into a sealed case and putting a crazy mark up on that :stocking:

GAME stores are already selling it at £59.99, launched last Friday. Not online though for some reason.

Pedant mode ON, but I wanted to correct what was stated earlier >

about £10 for a PC (which the Xbox is).

The original xbox was essentially a pc, however the xbox 360 architecture is not like a pc at all. It is a proprietary system, it has internal bus speeds far in excess of a pc, it has a custom triple core power pc xenon CPU (no x86 architecture here) and a custom GPU made by ATI. A system designed primarily for gaming.

If you have the patience then you can setup a Linksys wireless B game adapter on the Xbox 360, they cost about £15 (doesn't work on vista/win7). MadCatz are supposed to be releasing a wireless N adapter for £49.99 (still expensive!) soon.

Oh dear, everyone treats it as a laugh and then someone has to take the bait and start a fanboy war  never mind, I suppose theres always one, surely having 256 players on PS3 home at any one time is a bit optimistic by Sony anyway (line number two is in the water people, lets see how long it takes to get another bite:whistling:)

Hes talking about MAG...

But gaming lag free is something only a privileged few get to experience on the ps3.

Bit ironic that then, seeing as I often have to wait half an hour or longer just to get a single online matchup in SF4 on my PS3 as I'm lucky if there are more than 3 people playing it online at any given time...

360, no issue, join a match whenever I want, there are always a ton waiting!
