It's a good quality cable, but you can't go wrong with the Just-Works $4.92 cable from Deal Extreme. It even has an OEM style plug.

Makes the crap graphics stand out, I have a component lead.

i picked one up from Deal Extreme as well - only a few quid and does the job every bit as well as the official one

GAME.co.uk is out of stock at present, but when in stock their price is £7.82.

I have seen this item in-store in the past few months for £9.99; but please ring in advance before making a special trip in case that price is no longer available.

Or £9.99 for the "Gameware" cable which is as good as the offical one.

The ones from Deal Extreme (which work well) can be found on ebay for about the same price - exactly the same product too.

As for slating the graphics, well, I guess the customer is always right ... top sales for what, ages now? Of course the 360/PS3 look miles better, but graphics aren't everything (though I do like having a good looking game on my 360 - doesn't stop something like Mario Kart being insanely more fun than many other games).

The scart cable is totally different to the component cable.

Scart separates L&R audio and the video; Component separates L&R audio and splits the video over three channels - R, G, B. The quality is better and allows for EDTV settings in the Wii menu.

But there is an RGB scart cable...

Is this any different?

If it interfaces via Scart, the difference will be none (compared to normal scart) - the picture quality is determined largely (or wholly) by the interface method. The Component RGB cable by default interfaces by separate colour channels - Scart doesn't do this in the same way, so you will not have the option of enabling EDTV (420p).

Scart is old-hat. Been around since ... 1979 ... I think? Amazing that it only really became mainstream in the 90's. Even S-video offers better quality, though Component RGB is better still. HDMI is still the best method, but not supported by Wii (of course!).

Although there are cheaper unofficial alternatives I have read that they have intermittent problems so I went with the official cable.

I'm glad I made the upgrade to this cable because the Wii video output via the composite and scart connections into my new HDTV was horrific and far worse than on a standard CRT TV. Using this cable and ensuring the Wii is output 480p makes a huge difference making it look much better than on a CRT TV.
