Can't believe how pricey these are. I ended up buying the KZ3 bundle then selling the game on just to get a cheap-ish pad. But yeah if you're not up for lots of sodding about just to get a cheap PS3 pad then this is still the best you're gonna get.

At this price? Unlikely, as you need to use the voucher code for this price.

Not for this price as you need to use a code online to knock the £5 off

It quite blatantly isn't the worst controller ever.

Minimum spend on this voucher?

So it's actually a £30 spend voucher for anyone wanting something else.

The triggers are pants and the analogue sticks are too close together and it's a bit too light but it's far from the worst.

I love the Dualshock layout myself. But I don't need another controller as I just bought one from Tescos for5 £28.62 or something cos they have/had 20% off accessories.

Why cant we have a troll alert button and IF anyone posts up crud like this we can alert others that a troll is lurking in the neighbourhood ;)

As to the Deal, well, it is good considering the ususal selling price of the DS3......But, (and unless the voucher code is specific to certain people) I imagine that you can you use the voucher on anything, so it's more of a heads up than a deal......
#14
Still expensive but its how they make their money so I don't know how to vote as the deals good but the price ain't!

Expensive compared to what though?

Xbox wireless pads are about £25, but then they need AA batteries so the PS3 has better technology in that sense. I'm more than happy to pay an extra £3 for removing AA batteries!

Not really much else we can compare it to since the Wii controllers are too different.

We have; it is titled [Report this comment] & is found to the right of the offending comment.

Don't forget the massive 1% quidco. :p

@Gunner4Life - yes, it does. Min spend of £30 tho.
#20
is the code one time use only and when do it expires?
#21
They're about £28 in our local Tesco store in St Neots. It seems they've retained the "VAT free" price even though the promotion has ended. BluRay controllers for £13 too. :3

I have a 360 and a PS3 and the reason why I only play games on the 360 is because of how **** this controller is. I'm surpised it's still so expensive when you can get an Xbox controller and rechargeable battery for the same price or less.

Just to prove I'm not a fanboy, I'd just like to state that the Xbox avatars are entirely gay and the PS3 dashboard is far superior. In fact I liked the original dashboard that came shipped with the 360 four or five years ago.
#28
Surely this whole "best" arguement after the last 5 years of it is getting a bit boring now? I have a 360 and cannot stand the d pad, it's awful, also the stupid lack of a model with internal battery that doesnt poke out would also be nice (my fingers like to be able to move freely), so that by my account is awful too, there is no universal great controller for everyone, I dont personally enjoy the triggers on the 360 controller either, does that make it the worst controller though?

The simple answer is yes, but only for me, based on my own criteria, same as anyone else's criteria will be different and therefore all points mentioned so far are irrelevant to anyone else, as at the end of the day the person using the controller needs to be the one to decide if it is for them or not by physically trying it and seeing if they enjoy the feedback and feel of it.

This showing one of the reasons I hate fanboys of either console screaming on every and any forum how their console of choice has the best designed peripherals or whatever, as based on their opinion (which they are entitled to) but really need to learn to shut up and let the people interested in buying a controller that suits the individual rather than being misleading by fanboys and saying X Y or Z is best based on factors they have chosen to use for one and listing a set of their own chosen negatives for the competition.

On a final note hot price, but I think 3 DS/3s and 2 360 controllers are enough for me otherwise my living room is going to end up sunk under plastic peripherals I dont really need.

+1 to Astec123

Very, VERY sick of the pathetic fanboy comments on these posts for controllers. I've never had an X-Box, I'm sure it has a brilliant contoller. I have a PS3 and the controller is fine on every game I've played.

This is a post for a PS3 contoller and whether or not it's hot depends on it's price compared to where you can get it elsewhere, not how it compares to an opinion of a completely irrelevant product.

I know if my PS3 controller broke I'd need one instantly and this looks like a good deal at the moment.

I got a USB to PS2 adaptor and use my PS2 pads. Much cheaper and I don't need to worry about keeping spare pads charged...

You are entitled to your own opinion, but then so are others. If they think your comment is crud (which it is), then there is nothing you can do about it!

Guys do yourself a favour save some cash and get one of these instead

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/designer-s-dualshock-3-bluetooth-wireless-sixaxis-controller-for-ps3-orange-47873

Can't see any difference between the offical one and this at all apart from the huge price saving.
#33
Can't use student discount at the same time :( stil a good price but was a lot more tempted at the thought of £25.

Ah well seeing as we get idiots in mac threads might as well voice my opinion that the triggers on this are **** compared with the 360 and the thumbsticks too loose. D-pad is far superior to 360 though. Tempted to get a second DS3 pad but to be honest how many co-op games are there nowadays, everything's just multiplayer online.

I dunno, it does come close tbh.

D-Pad is in the wrong place
Left analogue is in the wrong place
The analogue sticks are outdented and your fingers slip off them
Triggers are terrible (your fingers keep slipping off them)

Why so expensive when it feels like theres no insides? At least the xbox 360 controllers can be had for generally below £20 and feel quality compared to these

All you ps3 fanboys who are always going on about microsoft charging us £30 a year to play on live should take a look at why SONY are letting you play there (Mediocre) service for free.

Maybe because they charge you over inflated prices on the hardware

ERROR, yes.

The Sony (SIXAXIS Wireless Controllers replaced by) DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controllers offer wireless connectivity based on Bluetooth technology (but without a "discovery" mode so they only connect to a PS3 or PSPgo console). The DUALSHOCK 3 offers thirty hours of continuous gaming from a full charge (via the controller/PS3 Universal Serial USB port connection).

Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers use a proprietary protocol for their wireless communications (at 2.4 GHz) offering a range of thirty feet for up to forty hours (from the rechargeable battery pack, or from two AA battery cells; alkaline or rechargeable).

A PS3 console can support up to seven SIXAXIS/DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controllers simultaneously. An Xbox 360 console can support up to four Wireless Controllers concurrently.

The Xbox 360 Wireless Controller has eleven digital buttons (including the "connect" button allowing synchronisation with the console, & two digital "bumper"/shoulder buttons), two analogue sticks, two analogue triggers, & a digital (Directional) D-Pad.

The PS3 DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controller is motion sensitive (six axes), has two analogue sticks (with 10-bit precision), two analogue triggers ([L2] & [R2]), eight pressure-sensitive buttons ([L1], [R1], [Start], [Select], and the four PlayStation buttons; [triangle], [circle], [cross], & [square]), a pressure-sensitive (Directional) D-Pad, as well as three digital buttons; the [PS] button, [L3] & [R3].

The cost of the components in each controller influences the consumer retail prices.
