It does, but the dongle is included in the box.
#5
How does this compare to say, Turtle Beach XO4? picked one of those up last month and love it.

Forgot to mention the dongle allows the headset to work with surround sound on the PS3 also, and you can plug the dongle into a PC and use it as a wireless stereo headset.

The only TurtleBeach I've used are the wired X12 on the 360.
Compared to them, I would say the Sony set are not as loud, and they don't pack as much bass. However, the sound quality and clarity, and the surround sound on the Sony set are truly outstanding.

I have this set and personally would recommend. The only negative feedback I've had was that the sound of my speech was not as clear as the original clip on set I'd used to start with. I've used these most often with FIFA and would say the sound from chat and game sound is great.

Well these on PS4 would give you virtual surround sound. I use VSS a lot on my PC and can say it helps a lot in certain games, gives the sense of the sound filling the room rather than being right in your ears! its hard to explain really, some people like it, some don't.

I suppose the negative would be that you would have to charge batteries for these, whereas I would assume you have your XO four just plugged into the pad without a worry about battery life!

I've never been overly sensitive to audio, I use my XO4 with both X1 and PS4 and I think it sounds amazing so I will stick with it for now - thanks for the info though!

You can get software to emulate 7.1 surround on these headsets and the older Pulse models.

For anyone who hasn't used these headsets before, don't expect miracles. It's virtual 7.1 so doesn't come close to what a decent set of trittons will give you. For the price though, they are pretty good although as someone Else mentioned, the feedback loop for your voice is weak so you can't hear yourself speaking.

whatever happened to the white version of these? they sold out everywhere online and the ones floating around on ebay are silly money. i presumed they was mass produced, especially with the white console now available, but obviously not?

As far as I'm aware, UK retailers have yet to receive official stock of the White headset from Sony. I had to ship mine from the USA, where this headset is referred to as the Sony Gold headset.

Was just about to go and pay £80 as well for these from Amazon (brother's birthday is on Friday), a nice reduction down to £58 will do me, heat added!

These are £64.99 at Argos if you can't get them from tesco

They suffer from terrible mic quality and it's the biggest complaint on these. Can't complain for the price I guess, but I would look elsewhere for a better mic if party chat is something you are looking to do.
#23
great headset. The only headset I've got on with. Px4s just couldn't not get on with them but these are great.
#24
Love this headset decent sound and ease of use,
sold my turtle beach when i got these even though the turtle beach sound blew these out of the water i still prefer the ease of using the Sonys
plus i can plug the usb dongle in my android tv box and use the headset
#25
I was just looking at these. Many thanks!

Strange, every person I chat with in parties, and this is a regular thing, agrees I sound crystal clear.

Just got for my PS4, looking forward to some surround sound :)
#29
got a set from Symths toys last week, only use them for movies, quality is amazing
#30
Good value but as mentioned elsewhere you can`t hear yourself speak and end up asking if others have heard you. Bit bass light but at the price a definite contender.
#31
Bought mine in August and they're cracked to hell, fairly common problem.
#32
Had mine since they were released love them but do agree with others that they're not the best for party chat
#33
hot and bought! thanks Op

I have these. For gaming with friends these work great, the simple set-up with both my PS4 and PS3 couldn't be any better, but when I play alone I actually prefer my Sennheiser HD 598 stereo headphones for better sound quality and greater comfort.

Any settings through the playstation menus that need changed maybe?
#39
Got a pair for xmas and they are a great headset for the price.

I'd imagine an expensive pair of Turtle Beach or Astros would be better sound quality but for the price they are fantastic.

Make sure you have them on the right way round, the Playstation logos should be towards the back of your head. It is dependent on your own ears as well. I would say at the highest setting they are fairly loud but if you are one of those people that have blown your ears out with loud music through headphones etc then yeah i can see them not having the punchiest of sounds.

They were under £60 before Christmas elsewhere.
