Good find, use mine all the time. In fact used it last night to watch a film, just makes the ps3 feel like a superb blu ray player and no more fiddling with a joypad.

Really good price but honestly this is almost a complete waste of money as it's a terrible product.

Why? A few reasons but the main kick in the balls is you can't 'really' change the volume on your tv let alone your sound system as it only uses bluetooth and not IR. That means you need you'll want to keep the tv remote. And given most tv remotes (when the tv is connected to the ps3 via hdmi) will control the ps3 reduces the usefulness of this further. Also just look at the buttons. They've got ones like R3 and triangle one it. I don't want all that.

Now use my Panasonic tv remote and have this next to the ps3 looking good.

I like this remote. The build quality is good and all the buttons on it mean you have full control of all the advanced features that Blu-Ray offers. I also have a media server on a network hard drive, so all my stored movies and music can be played on the PS3 using this remote as it's also very good for navigating the XMB. I don't need it to control my TV, because I have a separate surround sound system for audio - so that's connected to the PS3 with an optical cable and needs a separate remote anyway. So this remote suits my needs perfectly.
The only problem I have with it is it's not great at controlling iPlayer. That's because iPlayer doesn't respond directly to you pressing buttons like 'Pause' - but rather you have to press the pause icon on the screen using the cursor, and the remote doesn't move the cursor very well. This is just a software issue that could easily be fixed by releasing an update, if Sony can ever be bothered. Until then it's much less frustrating to use the regular PS3 controller for iPlayer.

With my tv remote I can change the volume on my sound system (need to be connected by HDMI), just the TV and pretty much 99% of what I need a remote to do and it does it better than the ps3 one. Tbh even if the ps3 remote used IR I probably wouldn't use it because it just has too many buttons that are confusing to use when your watching a movie in the dark.

Trust me, I 'tried' to like it because after all I'd spend £15 on it. But after 2 weeks found myself going back to my tv remote.

But although I use my PS3 maybe 70% of the time to watch movies/tv shows, I've never watch an actual bluray movie from a bluray disk so not sure if you lose or how much you lose from using the tv remote and not this.

The BBC iPlayer pause thing is a problem but not sure if that's Sonys fault really.

Item reposted with a lot of heat, but removed as a duplicate. Original thread therefore bumped.

Just saw this on the play.com sale. Looks like a much cheaper alternative Venom PS3 DVD remote
