You can snap the TV. So you can watch whilst farming on Destiny for instance. ie playing a game. Makes perfect sense to me I do it all the time.

One further great feature of the Xbox One's Digital Tuner implementation is that it allows for second-screen viewing via the console's Smart Glass app. In other words, you can watch what's playing on the console's tuner on your smartphone or tablet.

Unless, bizarrely, that phone or tablet runs on Android, as currently only iOS and Windows devices are supported. Presumably Android video streaming support is coming soon given that even a number of Smart TVs support this feature now.

^ Only in Xbox smart glass beta. Using it now on my Lumia 920 and it's appalling

There's no need for it, and it should have been built into the console I paid 400 pounds for about a year ago.
I really hope this doesn't sell well for Microsoft.

I don't see the point of this? I wish they'd just rlease the sky app and stop farting about with money grabbing gizmos.

voted hot because this thread has given me the answer to my question. why I didn't think of youview box :). any idea whether I can somehow link my built in free view to my Xbox?

It's an essential bit of kit if your TV does not have freeview HD built in and you'd like more of a media hub whilst your Xbox one is powered on.

Granted if it was a twin tuner / pvr it would be better justified..

I think its a decent supplement..

I didnt want to divert sky through the xbox as it seems pointless powering two boxes to watch one. Plus i dont mind the EPG on sky, so had no desire to overlay the Oneguide onto it.

Ive just connected this to feed freeview hd direct through the xbox, so i can snap tv (great if playing a slow game not requiring lots of attention)

Lets me have my cake and eat it for me at least :)

just bought 2 for my 2 xbox's arriving for £299 8)

It's a great piece of kit in my opinion.

If you use Freeview HD and don't want to use your TV's horrible UI then you can use the Xbox One. The UI for TV on the Xbox One is quite nice then add in the other features such as snap, Kinect voice control etc then it's even better.

Also, if you want to game whilst the mrs wants to watch TV then just hand her your tablet. Win win! Ha!

Yeah pretty sure you're not going to get 2 xbox's considering that they stated that one of those "xboxes" was just a placeholder in their system to indicate a free game with the console. You're more than likely going to get 1 Xbox console for £299.99 sorry to say.

I accidentally liked your comment.

Look in freeview box settings for 1080p/60 setting as well and alter that to 50 or keep at 60 and set xbox back to 60. My freeview box has those options

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be a setting for this, at least on the Humax YouView boxes :-(

Did you manage to get it working that way? My TV is not having HDMI output so I can't connect it using video out :(.
the only way to do it is using youview but that is another extra :(. Wondering whether there is a cable to convert video out to HDMI

You need external box(freeview/android tv stick/chromecast/sky/tivo) that has hdmi out, you plug this into the hdmi in on xbox one. The xbox one hdmi out goes to the TV as it would normally.

I answered you without really reading ie I glanced at what you had said (eg I missed the built in bit)

Yeah I assume, you ordered from Microsoft for that one, I was a bit more lucky, just after the offer expired I went back to have another look and they messed the offer up, I ended up ordering 2 for £299 each, one with 10 games and the other with 7, most of it arrived yesterday and the rest is out for delivery today! Winning!

Thought so. Yeah... final solution for my case would be using the freeview on my youview (I thought it is a useless box as my TV has built in freeview and freesat, that was until my xbox arrives...). Sounds ridiculous really, now I have to power up 2 boxes while I have freeview built into my TV :(

@5426angela: yes, you do need aerial (see the other end of the tuner is a plug for the aerial antenna)

No I've just looked at it. Everyone was claiming its 2-4-1, but that's how both of mine looked in my basket and on the confirmation. You only get 1 per order, that is the way the order process at MS store works! I did however get my 10 and 7 free games!

Yeah, £299 for Xbox One and Fifa 15 + GTA V, Watchdogs, Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Forza Horizon 2, Far Cry 4, Assassins Creed Unity & Halo: MCC

And also £299 for Xbox One and Fifa 15 + Dead Rising , Forza 5, Forza Horizon 2, Far Cry 4, Assassin's Creed Unity & Halo MCC.

Sold one to a mate with Fifa and 3 games for £300. Kept 3 games for myself, giving the other one with 2 games as a xmas present and selling the remainder of the games on ebay, should get about £210, so only cost £90 for the best xmas gift ever, plus I got ACU, Far Cry and Forza 2!!!

I am so shocked it all came!

Mate I wouldn't worry, it was œnly that way for 10/15 minutes at the max, I was halfway through posting it (and trying to order a 3rd) when they fixed it. I'm not overly sure why they honoured it, I guess they might not have noticed, or they taken responsibility for the error. Either way I keep checking every 15 minutes to see if they do it again!!!!

So I can run my built in Freeview through this and ultimately end up with Freeview HD?
