Having just had a £200 canon multifunction inkjet die on me after 18 months, I was very annoyed and vowed never to buy a consumer inkjet ever again. Currently taking my CC and the supplier to small claims under consumer regs to claw back my money....

The upshot - I've purchased an oki data laser multifunction. Oki's current deals offer £50 cashback and the real sway for me, a 3 year onsite warranty via registration. Buying separate on-site support is £221 for 2x years! Oki products aren't pretty IMHO but I want something that works well and that lasts for a minimum of 3 years, so this fits the bill.

I bought a MC350 for £344.69 inc delivery from http://www.okidirect.co.uk, cheapest I could find, after cashback it's £294.69. It'll not be for everyone as it's a fair sized lump, but an excellent quality, newly released machine for the price. The model it's superseded was £150-200 more expensive than this and is still on sale at the higher price. Toner is also reasonable for a laser.
Order placed on Friday afternoon was delivered this morning. I'm impressed with the print quality.

Can't find it cheaper on the web, other suppliers are anything from up to £100 more expensive for the same model.

We have an Oki in the office, very expensive toner!!

black toner is £30 colour about £40 for genuine products so about what you'd expect for a laser, unless you're refilling of course. My Canon used x6 cartridges which were about £15-20 each.

Good luck with the claim. Never sure about multifunction devices, although useful where space is an issue.

Prefer to use Epson with cheap cartridges and throw away after a year if needed. Sounds like you have a commercial use level for your printer.

It's not so much commerical use, although I do run a business from home. I'm just really really tired of consumer models dying while I still have set of new spare cartridges sitting in a draw. I also think it's shameful to be forced to throw things in a skip after 12 months because of manufacturer build quality - don't get me wrong, I've done exactly what you've done in the past and bought a cheap printer, I'm just really sick of it - i thought that the expensive Canon fould last for a few years at least.
