BenQ 27" Widescreen LED Monitor £176.99 @ Amazon

Guess I'm looking for opinions on this one. I'm looking for a 27"ish size screen to use with my Mac Mini, seems a good price for one, can't find one cheaper at 27". This any good?

Seems dirt cheap to me for a 27" LED monitor. OK it's not 2,560 x 1,440, but then its not £500 plus

yamakasi catleap.

Yeah they had a ton of them in Singapore in the Sim Lim shopping centre - 6 floors of computers and accessories, various versions of the yamakasi, most pre clocked too. Not exactly ideal for a suitcase though :)

I lasted 2-3 months with my 1080p 27" monitor. The problem is the dot pitch is just too low when you're sat ~3 feet away. For movies/games it's fine, but for the web/office work/graphics editing it just looks plain blocky and ugly, like having 1366x768 on a 23-24" monitor. When you have a monitor that size you'd naturally expect more desktop real estate than monitors 4-5 inches smaller, but you don't.
On my current 27" Hazro WD I have a browser in the center of the screen, RSS feeds on the right, twitter on the left and Winamp going across the top... and I still have room for more if I wanted.

I just personally think 27" TN monitors shouldn't even be considered when there's the Korean options available. OK it may be £40-50 more, but that will pay for it's self the second you see the quality of these S-IPS panels...

1080p at 27” isn’t that bad, I’m currently sitting in front of a Samsung P27700HD with my head no more than 20 inches from the screen and it looks perfectly fine to me. I have read people buying the 27” Korean IPS monitors on ebay have had issues with DOA and damaged monitors…..not good if you have to send them back to Korea. Also a few have been hit with £45 import fees. This Benq isn’t a bad deal.
as you are so much closer you notice the pixelation.
