Always worth checking firmware levels, my original one died after the notorious 5184 hours of use blue screen problem - firmware update fixed it without loss of data.

Terrible write speeds. May as well just get a normal 7200rpm drive!

Many 7200rpm drives write at upto 260mb/s? And have access times as low as this? Big cache's help on HDD but they can fill....

Didn't think so.

Haha, looks like a mistake, a two week old deal suddenly in the front page. The price is up to £86.29 now.

Cheers for the find anyway OP

Netgear ReadyNAS Duo 2-Bay Network Storage System NAS Amazon 56% off!!! £99.98

I have had one of these for a few years and I love it, built in bit-torrent client, ftp server, gigabit connection etc. Don't expect this to go sky high but a great box at a great price and with

What was the name of the one you replaced it with?

If you mean what NAS did I replace it with, I bought a HP Microserver (N36L). This is a lot better but is not an out of the box device and requires some knowledge to set up. There are lots of guides about though to help. This has now been replaced with the N40L and up until 2013 HP were doing £100 cashback making it a good value purchase. This offer has been running for ages (2 years+) so maybe they will do it again soon...

If you were referring to what fan I replaced the readyNAS fan with then you may not want to go to the extent I did! I replaced with a Noctua NF-R8 80mm fan, sized down to fit on the readyNAS with an 60mm to 80mm fan adapter. It added a lot of extra 'stuff' on the back but where it was in my house I didn't care about this. The mod meant better airflow to keep my drives cool and a much quieter fan.

I can't remember the exact guide I followed, but I just found a similar one here:

I have one of these and is fantastic doesn't have any fan noise etc, colleague got V2 of this and it is even better really pleased as can share data between apple and pc devices, stream to ps3, act as iTunes server and is time machine compatible ace
What was the name of the one you replaced it with?
I had one of these a couple of years ago which I sold (ReadyNAS DUO v2). It was slow to transfer even over a wired connection, the fan emitted a high pitched noise (I replaced it with a better one) and backing up to a USB drive took absolutely ages and regularly failed.

Unless these have improved I would not recommend. Do a search for "ReadyNAS DUO slow" on google and I'm sure you will find lots of info.
4 bay version also posted today FYI

these cases look ugly and weigh a ton

personally quite like the design, it's simple and understated. I've spent two weeks trying to find a case, which isn't huge, ugly or ridiculously priced. hard work I tell you.

if you want huge case, there's few nice, simple and understated cases out there, but they are a) huge and b) expensive.

if you want spaceship inspired gaming cases, there's vast amounts available.

I liked some of Silverstone's cases, but they are expensive, and feature wise lacking, especially at lower end of price scale.

antec cases are very good usually, especially in terms of keeping temperatures down, but not always prettiest, although most cases I've seen are ugly anyway
A really great case, I just used it for my new build. I managed to get a 'used' version from Amazon for £65, but it was in mint condition when it arrived.
Fantastic case!
This case looks awesome but its cheaper or on par elsewhere so not really a deal
Scan have it for £87.94 if you qualify for free delivery, was looking at this today to replace my ageing Akasa Mirage. Having seen it drop as low as £70ish in the past I'll leave it.

Fair enough. Just me being pedantic!
Ah ok, I hadn't seen that deal, I was in the market for one and this was the best I found so I thought I would share for anybody who will have missed earlier offers! :)

That deal was also 1-2 months delivery, this above isn't!

bought an antec case a couple of weeks ago, i do like it, but the steel is very thin and flimsy, and can be wobbled or flexed with your little finger

obviously it is to save costs, but i would not buy another again based on this fact, i dont care about weight, i just want quality, substantial build quality
It depends on the model - my old P182 is built like a tank, but obviously you wouldn't expect the same build quality from their budget ranges.

So let's get this right for a "HOT" UK Deal - close to £20 more than a marginally higher performance Crucial m4 from Amazon = hot ? Know which I'd be buying...

Synchronous flash like the Vertex 3, so better performance for incompressible data, if that's what you need.

In general use, is it worth an extra £20 over an Agility 3? Wouldn't have thought so

EDIT - heat added though, as it's the cheapest for this model / type
