I spotted this whilst browsing for films for my psp and it seems to be a very low price for this film. If you are a fan of Asian cinema like myself and you have a psp, then this should be on your shopping list.

Dark, vibrant and twisted revenge thriller by Korean director Chan-Wook Park. Oh Dae-Su (Choi Min-Sik) has never taken his role as husband and father seriously and has just been released from police custody for drunk and disorderly behaviour on his own baby daughter's birthday. When he finds himself in solitary confinement in a prison cell after being mysteriously abducted on the street, he has no idea what is going on or why. A year into his imprisonment, he learns from the small television in his cell that his wife is dead, and that he himself is suspected of the crime. When, fifteen years later, he is released as suddenly and inexplicably as he was detained, he is determined to track down his tormentors and wreak his revenge. But little does he know that his kidnappers have even worse horrors in store for him...

...are they still making UMDs? I thought that format was killed by people putting ripped movies on memory sticks?
#6
Uwish had quite a few UMD titles a while back. They even did a 5 for a tenner promotion which probably cleared out most of them.

Sonys abandoned movie format, they have only abandoned two formats this year (UMD and Atrac music format).....I wonder if theres anything they could ditch next year :whistling: :p

yeh.....

UMD has not been abandonded.
in fact the sales are stronger than ever now they have realised people are not going to pay full amount for a portable copy of the movie they already own on dvd.

now that sales of the psp are flying off the shelves, it would not surprise me if these came back with some decent movie releases.

just wanted to say this is a great film!

Brilliant film, although it seems a waste to view such a visually stunning film on a tiny PSP screen.

I beg to differ all major movie studios (apart from Sony) started pulling out of the format last year
http://www.computershopper.co.uk/?news/news_story.php?id=85761

and Sony phased them out this year....

there are still a few newish releases on UMD eg spiderman 3 last month

I think this is the best film ever.

Old Boy is fantastic. Any fans of this should check out the other two films in Park's 'Vengeance Trilogy'. Namely Sympathy for Mr.Vengeance and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. His segment in the short film collection Three...Extremes is visually gorgeous as well - he's such a talented director, always striving to present information in a challenging way (thisis despite Cut from Three... Extremes being somewhat lacking in the story. In that instance, I prefer Miikes Box and *love* the horror of Fruit Chan's Dumplings).

great film, not a misprice as i got this from them 4 months ago for 3 quid.

put simply: The Best Film Ever Made

Excuse my noobie question  but what does (UMD Mini for PSP) mean? Would this be compatible with a standard DVD Player?
#19
Fantastic price for a fantastic film.
#20
Krispy, a PSP is a handheld game console from sony (that amongst other things also plays these UMD disks, can browse the net, play music...). UMD can not be used on a standard dvd player as far as I'm aware :)

When I first watched this I did not understand the ending properly or why he had been locked up but after reading the story more in depth on wikipedia I now know the story fully and its quite deep.

It was an Octopus and 4 were eaten for that scene. I think it's a delicacy in Korea.

The sales aren't stronger than previous times, nor is UMD still stable or even going particularly well. It has been almost abandoned - everyone but Sony has left.
