I agree, its a fantastic film.
Better if you don't like octopus! ;)
#8
Tremendous film. Do not watch it dubbed!
#9
Yep, Great Film and some of the sequences are brilliantly shot! The hallway fight seen is amazing and so you know the octopus seen was a real octopus and no stuntman was used!

Agreed, but then I hate English dubbing in ANY foreign movies.

EDIT: SPOILER ALERT!
Do not watch unless you have already seen the movie, or you don't mind ruining one of the good bit...

Brilliant film!
#12
Absolutely awesome film.
#13
I'm not sure if I thought of the film as a "Classic" but it was very decent
#14
Brilliant film. Blew me away, great intro to Korean cinema.
#15
Don't think any film should have the eating of live animals, particularly intelligent ones (an octopus is intelligent!) it's too much like the chinese eating live monkeys brains. Awful!
#16

#17

If you like this you'll probably enjoy the second in the revenge trilogy, too - 'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance'

I agree, however Lady Vengance is the third film in the trilogy. The trilogy is ordered as follows:

1. Sympathy for Mr. Vengance
2. Old Boy
3. Lady Vengance

All 3 are very different and excellent in thier own right. Would highly recomend

You may also like A Bitter Sweet Life which I thoroughly enjoyed :p

Great Film. The Fight scene is great. All shot in one take i heard!!
#26
The main chap in the film is a devout buddhist and appologised to the octopus so it's okay :)
#27
Great film, but depends whether some people would watch it more than once after seeing the end.

Can anyone comment on the picture transfer for blu ray. Is it worth the extra expense if you could get the dvd cheaper?
#28
Loved this !! And also lady vengeance
#29
The vengeance films on blu are also top drawer. HMV have them online for very decent price. I got the copper box DVD set of oldboy from Korea years ago. Cost me £90 or something. 3000 made. Wonder what it's worth now ?

He apologised before eating. If he'd been a Catholic, he'd have apologised afterwards.
