It looks like a ****.

Great price especially with the viewfinder. But you need a good flash gun, which will add to the price (approx. £100)

Agree, owned one of these and the lack of flash is a real problem. A big mistake now a days to make a camera without a flash.

Yeah, I bet Leica are kicking themselves that their M9 doesn't have a built in flash ;)

Bit of a difference between a M9 and this, like comparing a Rotary auto watch to a Rolex auto watch, in fact if is was not a problem why has the later version got a flash ?

I also have an M9, to me the comparison is valid based purely on form factor, features and acceptable final image quality. To me it boils down to the fact that my Pen fits my pocket and travels everywhere with me, unlike my M9, which is a hulk.

As for the flash, maybe Olympus added it to pander to amateurs :D (there, I said it) bored now.

I am impressed, guess you pros don,t need a flash then. Must tell all the camera makers to remove them because they are not needed. was looking at a top end Nikon, glad you put me off buying it now due to it being an amateur camera with a flash.

The built in flash is useful. However you need to note that even with the E-PL1 which has a built in flash the Guide Number is 7, which means that you are limited to a distance of around a few metres. Therefore you are likely to buy an external flash if you need flash as a key feature! Therefore it is not that bad without a built in flash.
