Olympus PEN E-PL1 Compact System Camera in Black with 14-42mm Lens £169.95 @ Jessops INSTORE ONLY

toucheroartoucheroar

Very hot deal. Found this in their Watford store. They had 2 in stock on clearance. National clearance deal according to the young female sales assistant. Definitely comes with the 14-42mm kit lens.

Went over 300 degrees last week when £175 at Argos (Now out of stock almost everywhere.

I've had one for almost a year and it is a stunning piece of kit for the money.

I've taken a (camera phone) pic...

Cannot be that many in the Jessops network but is a great 4/3rd camera to make use of those old 35mm camera lenses such as a Minolta MD Rokkor-X 50mm f1.2 superbright lens photo taken using ISO 200 and 1/320 sec at King's College, London. Note that the blue sky is the natural from the Olympus sensor, no photoshop and no lens filter used for this. I find the E-PL1 sensor gives very rich blue sky.

Plus another one of the very fast moving dynamic neon display at Picadilly Circus taken using ISO 1000 at 1/320 sec of e-pl1 plus the same Rokkor-X lens 50mm (making it equivalent to 100mm in the old 35mm format camera speak)

    Are you mad?

There's banding all over that "sky". Totally fake looking. Awful.

Indeed. I agree. Why post such poor photos? Terrible advert for the camera

that sky pic is only 130k so the quality is awful its obviously not the true picture.

Cool. I have some Jessops vouchers to spend. Just the trouble of finding one.

I compressed JPEG by a further 70% from the original JPEG photo straight from camera to 500kb and 250kb to save loading time. Then tinypic image hosting web site adjusted the pixels yet again to its default setting, whatever that is! Just to illustrate the results of how old manual lenses could be used with the E-PL1 (any micro 4/3 camera).

Point well made; but perhaps you could have included a small full resolution crop from the photo - that might have forestalled any complaints and we'd be able to see the image quality.

Great camera, I love mine and a real bargain at this price.

Not as cheap when you add postage, but SLRHut have it for £169.95 + £24.95 postage if anyone struggles to find one at Jessops.
It comes with the lens, a tripod, SD card and other stuff.

Judging by this review, it's a beast for the price.

Just went to the Cardiff store, they didn't have any in stock there unfortunately. The lady behind the till check the systems and told me there's only one left in stock anywhere and that's in Reading.
