Description : With a high quality and powerful 10x optical zoom lens (equiv. to 38-380mm in 35mm format) you can get right into the action. The 7.1 million pixel resolution means that every detail will be there to see. In the 3.0 million pixel mode, a special Fine Zoom option is available that boosts magnification to a phenomenal 15x, making the zoom equivalent to a 38-570mm zoom on a 35mm camera. This mode also extends the ISO range to 4000 allowing the camera to deliver great results even in low-light conditions.

A large 2.5" LCD screen makes framing shots simple but also great for viewing your shots saved on the internal memory or optional xD-Picture Card. 21 pre-defined scene modes are available to make life easy in a wide range of shooting environments including Landscapes and Beach&Snow. To keep the more ambitious photographer happy, the camera also offers Aperture and Shutter Priority exposure, as well as full Manual control, so they can let their creativity and experimental impulses run wild.

According to reviews, it takes good quality images but suffers due to a lack of an optical stabiliser (blurry photos at long range). For £20 extra you could purchase the Panasonic DMC-FZ7 from pcworld/argos, which has a 12x optical zoom and does come with an optical image stabiliser. Also, it uses xD cards instead of SD (which are faster and cheaper IIRC) ones. Although one advantage this camera has over the panasonic is that it takes AA batteries instead of proprietary ones.

Definately go for the Panasonic camera - v good OIS and only £10 more:

Imho, a Li-Ion battery is ALOT better than using AA's. It'll last longer, is rechargable and you can get spares very cheaply off Ebay, so you can always have a battery charged up.
