Thanks. I didn't spot that on the HMV site with the others.

Got to have them all at once or not at all though... so I'll hang on for the later albums.

I still favour "The Pacific Age", I think... although I haven't listened to my existing albums for some time.

Has anybody seen the "original" line-up perform live since they re-formed?

Can't agree with that :?

Architecture and Morality was superb and acclaimed... and then in my book Dazzle Ships was also superb, but was vilified. The Dazzle Ships experience stung the band a bit and they never took another chance again - all there subsequent work was pop-flavoured tat. Shame.

they were one of the earliest electronic/synth pioneers in the late 70s and they are still going strong. Their material is wide ranging from hardcore experimental stuff through to pure pop, if u like that genre & aint heard their stuff then u really should.

.....they are superb live
#19
That was Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark with some classic electro-rock from their album
Architecture and Morality, two subjects I'm sure we could discuss all night. Indeed, the lines are open if you want to call, make a comment on either architecture or morality, two equally hot but differently shaped potatoes. Chips, and crinkle-cut chips. So, give me a call. Please! Seriously, though, do give me a call. Its four-fifty a.m. The Queen is dead, long live the King Singers!

Yes, 9 times on the 2007 tour and 5 times on the 2008 tour. There is a live cd and dvd from the 2007 tour available:-
http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/dvd/Omd-Live-Architecture-and-Morality/1080874.htm

Also this year they did a one off special concert with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, dvd available for pre-order:-

Not yet...but got tickets for the tour with Simple Minds in December...can't wait! :w00t:

For the Simple Minds/OMD gigs, Andy McCluskey advises fans to be early for the concerts as OMD may be starting up to 15 minutes early for each gig. This is because OMD will be performing a 1 hour set and so timing schedules are quite important.

Also at these gigs Simple Minds & OMD will perform on stage together a cover version of Kraftwerk's 'Neon Lights'.

Voted hot. One of the best bands of the 80's.

WOW! :)

The last time I saw OMD (Andy, and his band, rather than the original band members) Gary Numan was supporting. Gary did not have any synths on stage with him & he played "Cars" with a guitar emphasis. That was somewhat odd, but worth the admission price alone!

Thanks for the links.

I'm going to have to get out my (pre-re-mastered) CDs out today now!

I've just been reading this on the Official OMD site.

I also read that I missed an interesting programme on TV last Friday...

---
Following on from Synth Britannia the BBC will be screening Krautrock: The Rebirth of Germany - a look at the rise of the German music scene of the late 60's/70's. The programme looks at several bands of the era, including some who had a significant influence on OMD such as Kraftwerk and Neu!.

Krautrock: The Rebirth of Germany is due for broadcast on Friday 23rd October 2009 at 9pm.
---

I do not see much TV these days (due to video games consoles & ever-increasingly sized children taking over "the box").

Very fortunately, a friend pointed me towards the "Synth Britannia" programme (but I still have that to watch).

Are there any (other) bands from the late 70s, 80s, and a little into the 90s you'd like to see reform & play live?

Or maybe even suggest a better selection of groups for the perpetual "Back to the 80s" tour that we see every December. I mean... who thought of putting Belinda Carlisle on the same bill as Human League?

One day I'll learn just to buy straight away...

Had these in my basket this morning at £2.99, along with a DVD I thought my girlfriend might want. Waited for her to get home from work to check she did want the DVD, then went to complete the order only to find the OMD CD's are indeed £6.99 again. Grr

Maybe a little off topic but I'm curious to know what folk think. Maybe you've bought this twice already over the years. Once on vinyl then again on (pre-remaster) CD. What would be the a) legal and b) moral position with regard to downloading the remastered version from a torrent?

Great. Dazzle Ships my favourite though.
