I saved £1 parking and £1 petrol by buying this one.

You can get one of these free from some pharmacies that are opperating a "Minor alements scheme." Just go and ask the pharmacist.

Do they have to meet a standard. I bought a cheap tyre pressure gauge that was well out of spec. (showed more pressure than was actually there) Would hate to think I'm trusting my childs life to a similar cheap item that didn't show correct temp!

These are OK for adults but very difficult to use for kids because so hard for them to keep still for the 60 seconds it takes to get a reading. Good as a standby though.

I have always bought an instant themometer as gifts for new babies because they are expensive and most new mothers ever think they will need them. A luxury that is ideal as a present (£20)

These are not good at all. I bought two and both of them reach after nearly 90 sec temp of 36.1 C maximum.

these are faulty.

Not faulty. It quite clearly states it takes min 60 secs to reach correct temp.

Just not that practical for most parents
