Complete collection featuring every episode of hugely popular 70s sitcom. I have the old set of this and watched them all again not that long ago, great stuff.

Great price

Have watched the series several times - some great comedy and characters.
Watch the scene where Blakey and Jack Harper turn the water off in the street with their arms round each other to hide from the policman and tell me that's not funny - great stuff.

Gotta' agree. Unlike the classic's, George & Mildred, Dads Army, Open All Hours etc, this really doesn't stand the test of time.

maybe not but it is better than some of the sh*t on tv at the moment. Got to admit that it has dated badly, unlike Dad's Army and some other programs mentioned.

If you really want to see something that doesn't stand the test of time have a look at 'Love thy neighbour' :o

Some things are more appreciated over time and recognised as timeless genius or appreciated for their datedness (e.g. Dad's Army or Ealing Comedys).

This ain't one of those. It's horrible, lecherous, misogynistic, stupid, unpleasant and unfunny - in my opinion. The main characters are barely removed from the villagers in Straw Dogs.

But I must admit a fascination for watching it as a very popular programme of it's time. Just to think that this was popular humour of the time is worth preserving this rubbish.

I thought that was Anna Karen back in the 60s! lol
Presume it's a bloke, but could be a woman :-D
Is that Phil Daniels behind him/her?

Great price for the boxset
Heat added.

Like so much of the comedy of that era - the PC crowd completely miss the point in their determination to be outraged. Stan was inept with women and never got the girl.... Jack wasnt as clever as he thought he was... Arthur was a skiver.... Olive and "Butlers" love child? That would be incest! They were brother and sister!

Love thy Neighbour really showed the futility of racism as usually the men (both Bill and Eddie) ended up looking stupid, and the wives (Barbie and Joan) were shown to be superior both in intellect and attitude to others, so in effect it was a well disguised battle of the sexes theme.

As ever the PC crowd are too busy being upset on behalf of others to see things as they were meant - maybe its all too sophisticated for them :whistling:

Oh don't worry I'm not upset on my behalf or anyone elses. You'll notice I mentioned 'Love thy neighbour' after someone mentioned sitcoms that 'hadn't stood the test of time' and that's exactly what it hasn't done. The moral message/underlying theme is there but the method they used to convey it definately is from a bygone era.

Can't see the problem with on the buses, only sat down and watched holiday on the buses with the other half a few weeks ago :-D

stamfordblue - Thats Tom Rowlands of the 'Chemical Brothers'
