"This Energy Saving IntelliPanel for your Desktop or TV is a simple plug-in and switch on device with 8 sockets. Being recognised by the energy saving trust, this Intellipanel will automatically power on/off TV or desktop computer peripherals. It complies with British standards." Surge protection. Extra space for transformers. 2 metre cable & 2 metre telephone cable too.
edit - In store. Just sold out for the 2nd time at Dover, but there is a possibility they are going to drag some more out from their storeroom. None seen at Folkestone or Ashford last week. They're in a cardboard box if you're looking.

i don't fancy the "intelligent" turning off of my computer, but if that can be disabled 4ukp is a steal for an 8-way 2m powerstrip. ****** it i was at tesco today too!

probably will, I came out at 7pm, the cashier was quite impressed but the store wasn't very busy up the tv end. They are on a bottom shelf far right hand back corner.

Your computer goes in the dark gray port and this is not "intelligently" turned off.
You monitor, printer etc.. go in the other ports and these are turned off with the main computer.

The week before that something extremely similar to this was given away (tv based) you can still get it for £3.95 p&p iirc. (was initally distributed via Sainsbury's stores) Google it. May even be better/cheaper than trawling local Tesco stores!!

I dont believe that this is a surge protector as well. It is designed to turn off the supply to all appliances plugged into it to save you money. You would neet to plug your surge protector into this or this into your surge protector to benefit form having a protected supply..............................

I stand corrected, having found further info I can now say that it is a surge protector as well.......full PDF info on the product here....... http://www.ethicalsuperstore.com/download_docs/intelli%20panel%20dsktp.pdf

"rtc" meaning "reduced to clear", presumably.

Has anybody (whilst voting this deal up to 300 degrees already) managed to find this item in any store other than the one in Dover?

Is it it just me or does it annoy other people when you click on go to deal and have to trawl through a list of web pages....
A link to the product or a screen shot would be helpful...Good deal if you could find it..

Unfortunately some web pages are getting a bit clever, direct links are getting difficult to find. There was a time when Argos links didn't work.

Can anyone answer this question for me? I have a projector being driven by a few games consoles (not at the same time!). When I switch things off, I have to turn the projector off and let its fan run for a minute or so before I can switch it off at the extension lead. In the meantime, the consoles plugged into the other sockets on the lead have been off for some time.

If I plugged the projector into the 'sensing' socket, would it disconnect all the other devices once the fan had done its duty?
#26
Excellent Find ........ H&R well deserved.
I have a couple of similar things http://www.standby-saver.co.uk/ bought from Amazon.
See http://www.amazon.co.uk/British-Gas-New-Energy-Standby/dp/B002KDPCTY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1269167183&sr=8-2-spell

I had a lot of flack when I posted this type of item before........but all I can say is that I love the simple fact, that when I turn off my PC .......everything else associated with its running turns of too. According to my Electricity energy monitor - I save 3p per hour - roughly £200 a year. Hopefully repaying its manufacturing and shipping costs in full and then some ......!

I would have to say (and its a guess) the fact that the fan needs to run to cool the bulb/light, that power is still being used. Therefore the other sockets would stay on until the power has been cut totally. Given how expensive projector bulbs/lights are, I would treat it as a separate entity, and not use the Intellipanel.

You're right about the cooling, there's a significant blast of heat still coming out after its been switched off. But I was just wondering whether I can treat the projector as the 'master', similar to how a PC would be in normal use. So when the fan finally turns off, it would turn off everything else. I wouldn't want something else turning the projector off, as it wouldn't get time to cool down.
#29
The projectors we use at work, have a similar time delay after pressing the Off button.
Although I have never actually thought of it before ........I have to assume that they are truly off, cause we just stick them back in their bag. In theory ...........the answer to your question would be Yes.
I hope ................!

They havn't now....I've got those 2.

None left in Dover now.
I didn't see them at first.....so had to ask, and the guys behind the digital counter didn't know what I was talking about at first and said I should go to HomeBase. Then one realised and pointed to them for me.

Thanks to the OP....heat added and rep

Also went to the 2 branches in Ashford and the Folkestone one, and none of them had any sign of these :(
#33
Just Dover?

Another 200 degrees of heat since I first asked if anybody had found these items in any store except Dover. No items outside of the Dover store seem to have been found & now Dover's stock is exhausted.

Suggest we mark the (single store in the UK) deal as "Expired".

Any objections?

Some may find it tricky, but I just used the search field & copied the address(es) to my clipboard before pasting them in the forum.

I was just thinking about setting mine up to my desktop/printer etc and looked on this site. Decided to leave it till the morning. (Actually I was also hoping my husband would do it, but no, he's browsing AV forums and not persuadable!)

Can I use my Desktop computer with the Television/Audio Visual IntelliPanel™?
Yes, you may want to check the computer configuration instructions. You can use a desktop computer as the Master Device. However, the Master Socket on the Television/Audio Visual IntelliPanel™ is not permanently powered, this means that all your equipment will be switched off.
