I was looking at this earlier but was thinking do I get this or the brute which is a couple of quid more but a stronger lock.

i have the brute, and it's solid, my only issue with it though is carrying it , i can't put it in it's clasp on the bike as theres a bit of play in the mechanism when it is locked, the connecter you get for the bike is perfect its solid and grips the lock properly but then the shackle just shakes as you ride along ,,,,,i had to abandon it and now just carry it in my bag, meaning a cant fit as much in my bag, its also big, meaning you will struggle getting any water bottle or anything else on that bit of you bike,
hope that helps, it is solid though, basic hand tools will not brake it and it supposedly took a couple of minutes for a angle grinder to get through it,,,,,,,,
like i said shame about the play in the lock, and because of that i would probably gone for the smaller one,,
maybe someone else has had one on here that wasn't like mine.....

Is the shaking that bad then? I was looking at the Pitbull which is only a couple of mill thinner, I don't really want to carry the lock and was hoping to put it on the frame.
Do you have the long version or standard? Does it fit around your cycle with ease and would it fit around two?
Cheers

The Brute is slightly cheaper from a couple of Amazon traders ( £21 ) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AWAJYF0/ref=s9_simh_gw_p200_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=146NM8J4P9Z5ES21QQ3S&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=455344027&pf_rd_i=468294

Ah! missed the bit about the £5 voucher.

I wonder if wrapping near the ends of the shackle with self amalgamating tape, or using O- ring would stop it rattling in the lock.

ive got the onguard brute std u-lock the 111mm-202mm version, it touches the front bottle when on the bike and just about locks mine and my daughters bike together although not aswell as probably the longer version will ,,,,,,,,,

yes the shaking is that bad, to much for me to take really , and like i said it was a shame , because i really liked the mechanism for securing the lock to the bike it is solid and then it lets itself down by the shackle shaking,

maybe it shouldnt be like that i i had a bad one ,

maybe thats what you should do , get the lock and before you even attach it to you bike you will be able to tell if its going to rattle or not by just holding the bottom and shaking it ,,,,,,
i should of really asked for another but just ended up shoving it in the bag and carrying it everywhere i went ....

thats the one i got,,,,it is quite alot of play,,,,,,i thought of getting some velcro straps and attaching it to the top bar once it was in place, maybe taping it up like melted said would take the play out of it.....
