5.1-Channel Home Cinema Receiver / Speaker Package
HT-S3305
If you’re looking for a high-performance receiver-and-speaker package that won’t break the bank, your search may be over. Meet Onkyo’s 5.1-channel HT-S3305—a system packed with so much advanced technology that it redefines entry-level home cinema. As with every A/V receiver in Onkyo’s 2010 line-up, you get the latest iteration of HDMI—version 1.4. Three HDMI inputs let you hook up, say, your Blu-ray player, game console, and cable/satellite box—all of which can be output via a single cable to your connected high-res display. Not only is HDMI 1.4 compatible with next-generation 3D video, it also enables a convenient Audio Return Channel. On top of this, the HT-S3305 supports lossless HD audio formats from Dolby and DTS—previously the domain of mid-range to high-end receivers only. But that’s not all. The HT-S3305 also provides an overlaid On-Screen Display function for easy adjustment of settings; a Universal Port for one-cable connection of peripherals; four gaming audio modes; and a fully immersive, beautifully balanced 5.1-channel speaker set.

Loughborough Guy is the tech guru. He'll be along shortly. Personally I'd avoid spurious names like Onkyo

I've got a telly on order, first UK HD set up and I want something. I can't spend hours listening to nerds in RS or the like and don't understand the terminology over the fact that more speakers seems liable to give more sound.

All pointers graciously received.

dont be... you get a better system with the amazon deal £279.99. Better amp which also has an active sub instead of the passive one in this one.

back in Stock for next day delivery... Just ordered. After doing a "LOT" of research I finally settled my mind on this one as its the best available kit for its price. You are looking to shell out atleast twice as much for anything else on the market.

Also for people confused between this deal and amazon's 5305, my personal view is that even with the passive sub this is really powerful and sufficient for most of your needs. Also because I have heard 5305 having some problems with its Sub.

Quidco tracked at £35.73 making it £204.26 as stated. Cracking Christmas present for myself.
#20
dont forget to check the serial number on the box as ive heard that many of these systems need a firmware upgrae due to rear speaker sound switching when changing input format....
#21
Just ordered thanks! Hope Quidco tracks!!
#22
thanks for the heads up rob... can anyone tell me what cables I will need for this setup. I want to connect a PS3, 360 and Sky + box...

PS3 and xbox can through all audio and video via HDMI...sky+ i think you will need a HDMI and optical cable as surround sound is not outputtedfr om the sky box via the HDMI...unless someone can say other wise.

I thought standard Sky+ didnt have HDmi

Depends when you signed up, they've been shipping just HD boxes for quite a while now.

you lot need to read up

I think the onkyo joke is actually beginning to confuse people - I think we need a convention when one person makes the joke with 3 smileys with the original link to the thread.

Then every one who owns an onkyo (hopefully me in a few days) says how amazing a deal it is

Then we buy a named brand for £50 more :D:D:D
