Just before the market crashed. And before Obama screwed them into the ground!

Yip, sounds like Loughburu gay

BUT, he tried to take the shares back, just like the Morrisons LCD he talked up all day and then purchased, and rapidy returned to get his cash back.

Last ONKYO receiver I bought has lasted absolutely years and is faultless. I hate the thing - I just don't have an excuse to spend money! Don't buy unless you wish for too many years of happiness!

I think it's in the name.......Onkyo sounds like a kids board game.......It just doesn't cut it like Wharfedale.
#16
Are you guys seriously calling Onkyo a no-name? That's pretty ignorant.

would match the 507 AV receiver but I don't like how cheap this model looks, I know it's not meant to look arty but even for a minimal bluray player this thing looks a bit fugly. My 1983 Ferguson Videostar VCR had a nicer looking LCD panel on it than this does!
#21
That is an absolute bargain. No BD live but I don't think I have ever used that on the PS3 so not a great loss.

That's the problem with Onkyo kit on a whole. Personally I would spend a bit more and get a more (historically) well known name. In fact when I bought my HD amp a couple of years I chose Yamaha over the similar specced but slightly cheaper Onkyo.

Artist's impression only. Not an actual customer.

Freezing as it's a VERY local ie none for anyone -if you can be bothered going around the streets, parking, using the bus, phoning, enquiring and eventually realising that trying to obtain the Hot UK Deal with Richer Sounds that the whole sordid time wasting affair simply restates the negativeness of the universe. The hideous lonely emptiness of existence. Nothingness. The predicament of Man forced to live in a barren, Godless eternity like a tiny flame flickering in an immense void with nothing but waste, horror and degradation, forming a useless bleak straitjacket in a black absurd cosmos.

Saying all that, if you do happen by one, well done! :-D

"Looks like it is based on a Panasonic platform same as the entry level Marantz and Denon " quote from AVForum, well its a rebadged Panasonic so you decide.:whistling:
Not forgetting it might be a ex-display one too, which has been used 8 hours a day for who knows when.
Well at this price might worth a look I guess heat added.

Not really much of a bargain in my opinion, even at this price, with newer profile 2 players being reduced to around £79, this age old player is tired and didn't get great reviews when it was released, stating in a review it struggles to compete against players half the price, which means now it struggles to compete against profile 2 players for the same price!

Review here

Not the best player from the former Denki-Onkyo stable.

A more historically well known name :? Flipping heck you don't get much more historic than Denki-Onkyo 1946

£163.85 cheapest I can find it delivered, this brand is not a cheap one its a brand all the home theatre buffs buy.

Onkyo have been around for decades and are a very well respected HiFi and now AV manufacturer. They are particularly good at AV receivers which are regularly recommended by specialist magazines.

I'm not familiar with this particular model but there will be a good chance that it will be well built and reliable.

But the DVBD606 was their first Blu Ray Player and according to the What Hi Fi review certainly doesn't live up to expectations for Blu Ray Playback, a dated player, money definitely better spent elsewhere.

Whats the general public when it comes to Hi Fi manufacturers though? Most of the general public have not heard of Arcam, Cyrus, Rotel, NAD etc etc, and have only heard of Acoustic Solutions, Bush, Alba, Goodmans (Harvard Group), Pioneer, Philips, JVC, Samsung, Sony, Yamaha and possibly Denon.

It's an ongoing joke on the forum.

Nothing wrong with Onkyo at all. They make good stuff, and you're not likely to have heard of them unless you're looking for slightly more expensive kit.

Usually well above average stuff.

Somethings got to give, I doubt any of the 1% whom own the majority of the wealth in the world would be posting on HOTUKDEALS, indeed I doubt even thier personal assistants would know it exists, the sheer mention of Morrisons probably conjours up thoughts of Walmart or that bankrupt place we once knew on the High St as Woolworths - remember the Well Worth It range :w00t:

NAD is a great brand for those not shopping in High St/Retail Park outlets.....oh sorry I'm talking to myself as only .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of the 1% mention above come to HOTUKDEALS, sorry folks ! :whistling:
