Complete Home Cinema system for under £200.
Go to quidco.com, I'll put a direct link in the first post.
Add the system to the basket and enter the code: CINEMA10B

Online price is £299 - the code will give you a discount of £23 leaving you with £206.99 to pay and quidco should (hopefully) come back with: around £16.50. So it ends up costing £190.

good value for money - and a known brand as well ;)

Credit goes to konimitsu for posting details on an earlier thread.

Thank you for the credit alchemistkevin appreciated.

I have this system bought at higher price unfortunately but it is superb despite such a reasonable price for a quality AV & 5.1 speaker system and would highly recommedn to all except maybe audiophiles.

BestBuy and quidco payments have been mentioned quite a few times and I can 100% say that I have received into quidco and now into my bank all due Bestbuy cashback without any problems whatsoever DESPITE what some scarmongers have said...unfortunately though this does not qualify for quidco as it is not for home delivery at the mo.

Great deal and smoking hot....oO

This is out of stock for home delivery though isn't it?
#7
I ordered this last week and received it yesterday.

Not had a full play around with it yet, but it seems on first impressions a great entry-level set up and well worth the money!

Quidco is £13.80 (remember doesn't include VAT)...

Im looking for a basic 5.1 system for my ps3 / blu rays that has wireless rear speakers - Anyone seen any deals out there?

This deal was posted last week and expired when it went out of stock online. This is still out of stock for home delivery, therefore the title of this deal is incorrect

Thanks, I couldn't find anything except RS deals and an old bestbuy deal.

I've amended the title now.

If I hear another Sony joke I am going to kill myself*

*obviously I'm not actually going to kill myself, but you get the idea.

LOUGHBORO guy - enough already. I hear-by ban you from posting any comment on any Onkyo product ever again*

*I have no authority to ban anyone from anything, but for the love of god, please cut it out.

Onkyo unkown brand? Maybe you should go onto What Hi-fi website (other audiophile sites are available :D). Do a like for like comparison with Sony systems you may be surprsised. I have owned this system for 3 months and love it to bits. Well worth the money and £20 cheaper than I paid in December.

I said it was a great deal. Some people may (at their own loss and extra expense) choose Sony though

No doubt you will...however, since Onkyo are a renowned company specialising in this type of equipment, why would anyone bother with Sony..... who are the Unipart of the electronics industry and a jack of all trades??

the fact you don't know who Onkyo are sums up pretty much all we need to know about you...... a numpty who buys because of a brand name rather than on quality.... hey ho! You must be a marketing dream...... lol

Compounded by your latest comment that anyone who buys Sony will do so at their loss and extra expense!! Make your mind up.....

He's not allowed to say if he thinks it's a good deal or not?

I must buy an Onkyo soon. Loughboro never fails to deliver and we have the technofiles jumping in and then those without a sense of community or (everlasting) humour. Hopefully if I bought one (or equivalent Sony at a similar price) I would be able to resist the urge to open the comments.

Sorry as I don't spend much time on here, I was not aware of the Onkyo running joke. I suppose you are in a position to be an authority on humour with Diouf and 'Big Laff' in your team. Always make us 'neutrals' laugh ( I know it's not a football thread but couldn't resist....)

Looks like your best chance would be RS. Hand full left across the country and says they may be ex display or repair. At the price though I'd go for one still. The new models will surely hold value/appeal like these have and be full price for ages.

I ordered this when it was posted in a different Onkyo deal last week (thanks Konimitsu) and I am very impressed by it (although it is the first amp I have ever owned). It makes Battlefield: Bad Company 2 thunderously loud!

Although, I have one small problem. I watched a DVD through my connected PS3 last night (connected via HDMI for picture and Optical for sound), and the picture intermittently cuts out to a black screen and occasionally shows artifacting, while the sound continues uninterrupted. This didn't happen during gameplay or Blu-ray playback, making me think it's something to do with the PS3's DVD-upscaling rather than a cable issue?

I've asked Onkyo directly for feedback, but if anyone here can help (I already searched AV forums, thanks :-) ), I'd be most grateful.
#36
Why have you got it set up with the HDMI and optical from the PS3? Is it a slim of fat PS3?

Slim. I read about setting it up using only the HDMI but doesn't that cause the PS3 to decode the audio itself before sending it to the Onkyo via BitStream- surely I'd get better sound allowing the Onkyo to decode?

I'm sure this is a link which I used in initial setup. It can probably describe better than I can.

http://www.avforums.com/forums/all-one-systems/1246689-300-budget-anything-better-than-onkyo-hts3305-7.html

In summary though you have a different setup for PS3 fat or thin. If the amp says TrueHD or DTS HD Master (from a bluray), you are cooking on gas. If not you need to change the settings.

I've emailed this to myself to try when I get home, thanks for pointing me in the right direction - I actually saw this thread and ignored it as the title didn't suggest it would help much...
