I know some guys got a better price for it in December, but this is the next best price.

Sods law.. I was looking into the amps last night and the price was much higher then.

Anyway I'm going to pick up the S5303B from richer sounds later today. The rs guys say the upgrade is worth it... any comments as I'll see if they price match the above?

Glad there's only sensible comments in a Onkyo thread for once.

It's dropped £60 overnight. Was £500 last October.

I was watching this at xmas and missed it when the price went back up overnight.

Was £50 cheaper than this current price (and I can't stretch to it now after getting a PS3 two days ago!) but this one is on my list to buy sometime soon.

i was close to buying the S5305 but read below thread.

Not sure if i can trust that bass, dont know if its the same bass handed out on all the models or not

I was relying on this particular post from that thread:

I dont know about updates and stuff as im new to this myself, but the Sub on the 6305 has never had the switching and popping issues that i am aware of, they all refer to the sub on the 5305, which i believe is being resolved at the moment.

But my Sub on my 6305 is working as it should and its almost silent in its switching on and off.

I managed to get this at Xmas for £300.
The Amp is great, but my Sub pops, and its really annoying. Rear speakers also 'click' when changing channels on Sky HD.
Spoke to Genserve, who confirmed the sub needs a modification, so I'm going to get it collected next week. Hopefully it will be ok when it comes back.

Hopefully the amazon batch won't have this problem but when I read the forums it was in relation to the sister model... can you describe the popping so I can check it out when it arrives. Cheers.

Sparky - ours came from Amazon when they were price matching BB, so hope yours is ok.
The sub is designed to switch off if it doesnt get a signal after 10mins, to save power.
The ones with the fault power off randomly, and power back on as soon as they get a signal - ie straight away. This creates a popping sound, and became so annoying, we've turned the sub off.
The clicking noise from the sky hd box is a 'feature' of the sky box, when using the optical out.
Hope that helps?

Ok thanks for that. Fingers crossed otherwise its going straight back. I've got a sky+ box so what you are saying is every channel you change to a click is heard. is it loud...? That sounds annoying also!

I don't understand it. If it's is a known fault why doesn't the manufacturer recall them. Surely it must cost them more to fix / deal with returns etc... funny world we live in!

It was £299 delivered @ Bestbuy on Christmas with 20% quidco! Too bad I missed that deal

So is this essentially a top of the range surround sound system for your typical front room entertainment set-up?

I was looking through the comments to see whether I could write: "And no one has posted that inane Onkyo/Sony joke."

Congrats.

mmh.. onkyo, it's not really hi-fi in the Leak stereo 20 (unmodified) sense of the word, but hey, the modern world is all about boom, boom & more boom together with lashings of fizz (that sexy harlot from corrie).

Hi it's all in the f-eye of the beholder

Seems to be at £445 now?

£349.99 (From Amazon) in the More Buying Choices below the 247electrical price.

Use link in Pose #2

Is there much difference between the S6305B and the S5305B model that's £314.99 also from Amazon?

Nope, all gone - only the Marketplace retailer at £445 is left. Voted expired.

The S6305B has an iPhone/iPod dock, has 7.1 speaker outputs (although only comes with only 5.1 speakers), is higher powered (130W main channels, 150W subwoofer) and has four HDMI inputs.

The S5305B has no iphone dock (can buy one separately), is only 5.1 compatible, is lower powered (100W per channel), and has only 3HDMI inputs.

Hope that helps. This was a good deal, I'd pounce on it if it comes back in stock

The S6305B

You could get a Goodmans and an Alba for this price and have a Matsui as a backup.

It is still available at £349, only not through the original link.

The one in Post #2 still works. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003H9NHY2

No, No, No, we can't have this. Onkyo posts have a proud heritage to live down to.

What we need are more Alba, Technika, Nikkai comparisons.

As stated above, it only comes with 5.1 speakers, but is able to output 7.1 audio if you want to upgrade your speaker set at a later stage.

Don't know what you mean by HD audio
