this is a great piece of kit i love it !!

Like the look of this but read on one forum that voice can be difficult to hear unless cranked up but then bass is overpowering...sounds like the system im wanting to replace might go for a separate amp & some decent speakers - any thoughts from people that own this?

I too would worry about the lack of a centre speaker for dialogue. I always think decent 2.1 setups like this can sound great, but if the speech gets lost in the mix then it spoils it. I know you can add a centre speaker and rear surrounds to the package but kind of defeats the purpose.

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. I am finding speech a little bit difficult to hear.

I have reduced the bass & I have the sound up a bit which helps.

I'm glad I got it. I have been looking at cheap centre speakers on ebay. But I'm in no rush.

Good system, we have one and paid a lot more for it.

Ive got the older model of this, without the 1.4 3D and return audio line and I think its pretty good.

You have to make sure you have it set up right on the systems menus etc and with the supplied setup mic.
I have Q Acoustics 1010i on the fronts, supplied Onkyos on the back and a Dali Ikon Vokal 1 on the centre as back then the Onkyo additional speaker package wasn't easy to get hold of. No probs and films sound amazing along with gaming.

It handles DTS audio perfectly through the PS3 streaming media files from a NAS.

This model doesn't appear to have an auto set-up function. That and where the remote sensor is, puts me off. I could live without auto-setup, but where the sub would need to be placed in our room would make an IR remote useless. If it had a remote sensor on a cable or (why the hell not these days?) an RF remote then it would be perfect.

I too am looking for a 2.1 setup as the room is small and cannot accommodate a sub that has to sit somewhere that the sensor for the remote is line-of-sight. What would folks suggest please (other than get a bigger house!!!)?? On second thoughts, a sensible set of powered speakers would do the trick as I really just need it for the television.

HT-AS5?

Ive just got one, I cant compare it to the Onkyo but its 5.1, very loud (and voice clear).
If you google it it can be had for about £180-£200 delivered. I would buy it again, very pleased with it.

Im afraid it is a Sony though.
(cue abuse now)

i own these bought them for about the same price a few months ago excellent purchase very happy :D

I've got one (paid about £230 from RS). Only got 2.1 at the moment., thinking of getting a centre soon.

You don't realise how bad your standard TV speakers are until you run it through this, amazing clarity. For those who think the bass is too heavy, turn the cross over setting down. Never have regretted buying it, and don't have to worry about tv speakers when I upgrade my TV now either.

got this in the summer, amazing product, would recommend getting the extra sks22x speakers to go with it tho

I'm building a big open plan extension @ 30 ft x 10ft. I'm not much of a hi fi enthusiast but would this suffice for a 50" tele, xbox, blu ray, denon mini hi fi etc?

I got the Onkyo HTS3305 system for £250 from Richer Sounds.
Just went instore and chatted with the guy (Deansgate Manchester), didn't have to haggle that hard...
Not too sure how that system does compare to this as not an audio geek, but pretty good price a
