Strangely this is why I am looking at this model, why do you say LAN is not needed and does the 608 support it?
Onkyo are much better than Sony, any audio / visual enthusiast will tell you this. Just take a look at the review from whathifi

I subscribe to Napster and so having this built into the amp would save me having to run a computer through it. There is also some decent internet radio stations out there also

I am looking to replace my Yamaha RX-V1700 and the ONKYO is stunning value, especially at £399.
Never gets any less funny.

I have a HTPC mounted to the back of my Plasma running XBMC...there isn't anything a network connection on my amp could add that my HTPC can't do better already.

Energy efficiency here so not looking at a HTPC, I am a Last.fm subscriber and either will use my 4 year old PCH or buy this model to listen.
My HTPC uses 25-30w max. (Acer Revo) A lot less than my amp.
