Good receiver but if the Network functionailty isn't needed it doesn't add much to the discontinued 608 that can be picked up for around £250-£300 now

Who is this make? Seems like a lot of money, better off with a known brand like sony.

Strangely this is why I am looking at this model, why do you say LAN is not needed and does the 608 support it?

Onkyo are much better than Sony, any audio / visual enthusiast will tell you this. Just take a look at the review from whathifi

I subscribe to Napster and so having this built into the amp would save me having to run a computer through it. There is also some decent internet radio stations out there also

You can buy this is black or silver from Richer Sounds for £399. The price is not shown on their website, you have to phone.

RS

I am looking to replace my Yamaha RX-V1700 and the ONKYO is stunning value, especially at £399.

I have a HTPC mounted to the back of my Plasma running XBMC...there isn't anything a network connection on my amp could add that my HTPC can't do better already.

Energy efficiency here so not looking at a HTPC, I am a Last.fm subscriber and either will use my 4 year old PCH or buy this model to listen.

My HTPC uses 25-30w max. (Acer Revo) A lot less than my amp.
