Over time you start to realise when a product is good for its price regardless of the fact you've never heard of the brand, just because of who has posted it. I'll assume a pavel post is one of those times.

Personally I'd have gone for a Yamaha or such, but I'm always open to new ideas. Although I don't really need a new sofa at the moment I've added major heat, looks fantastic for the notes. Cheers :)

Unknown brand etc etc buy a Sony etc etc (sorry, couldn't resist!)

Onkyo sounds like some kind of sushi dish. Definitely agree it's better to get something like Sony over some obscure sounding brand.

I have had an Onkyo AV receiver for about five years now. Bulky but very good pieces of kit.

I never understand these "unknown Onyko" comments, if you spent just 5 mins researching for a good amp, you'd soon find these as a brand as one of the big boys...

Heard of Sennheiser, Technics, Yamaha, Pioneer..
Yeah they being flogged at PC World.

How about, Cambridge Audio, Monitor Audio, Onkyo, Marantz...
Nope?
We must be crap because you haven't seen it on a shelf at Tesco, or they don't actually NEED to spend huge amounts on marketing... oO

Whats your system?
Onkyo TX-NR818
Monitor Audio GXC350
Monitor Audio GX300
SVS PB2000
LG OLED 1080P

Not investing in 4K unless it gets up to the level of content HD from Sky, at least 20-30 channels

I remember the days of Richersounds 'Boozy bargain'...

And the warranty and service they offer?? anyone who has used it (or got all their money back because they didnt) will tell you, it is in all honesty superb.

Is this a better buy than the AVR-X2300W I've been looking at? This one is certainly more powerful (135W/channel vs 95W @ 8Ohms), but I'm sure either of them will have much more umph than I'm allowed to use by the boss!
