Now, before anyone mentions it I know that you really should walk away from this unheard of brand and if you look online you could get a Sony for £20 more :-DDD Just thought i'd post this deal for anyone who may want this sub-standard product. Might also be worthwhile seeing if Richer Sounds would price match.

Onkyo's budget AV receivers have always been ahead of rivals in terms of both features and sound quality and that's exactly the case here. The Onkyo TX-SR507 offers, a highly competitive, four HDMI inputs - that's at least one more than average at this price point. Added to this excellent HDMI count you'll also find twin optical and twin coaxial digital inputs and the full complement of component, composite and RCA phono sockets that you'd expect. In addition to a front-mounted mini-jack for easy connection of any portable with a headphone output, the TXSR507 features a universal port at the back which works with many iPod docking stations. Finally, a second zone output that's either active (powered) or passive (requires powered speakers) gives the option of spreading the sound into another room. In short, given its cost, we don't think you'll find a better connected AV receiver!

Just when you've caught your breath by taking in the connectivity, there's the processing power to consider. As you'd expect, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus are all standard. The new DTS-Express processor for quality, secondary audio decoding at lower bit rates, is also standard.

When it comes to setting the TXSR507 up, the standard Audyssey 2EQ system is there to help out. This not only automatically calibrates speakers, but also corrects room acoustic issues. The upshot of this hi-tech processing is ideal sound quality, whatever the room.

Finally, there's the sound quality. There's little doubt here that the TXSR507 is one of the best in its class. The powerful sound of this amplifier is helped still further by the oversized power transformer, WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology) Pure Audio and Double Bass Function - not to mention the 100 watts available to each speaker.

For a home cinema performance like no other at its price, the Onkyo TXSR507 reigns supreme.

I'd forgotten about him! He's like some made up fictional character always telling people that he can get everything cheaper or better. Reminds me of Harry Enfield's "Mr You don't wanna do it like that"!

Typical loughborough-ite. Most inbred town ever.

Thanks for making me smile!

Good deal too.

Onky who?

I jest, top class amp for £50 cheaper than at Richer Sounds. The 507 doesn't support HDMI 1.4 (3D) which the 608 does so if you're looking to upgrade to a 3D TV setup then go for the TX SR608

Will I be able to use 1 HDMI connected to the TV while the receiver has inputs for V+ HD Box, Sky+, DVD, etc etc. The above will be using different types of connections, like Sky+ will be using Scart cable and DVD player aswell.

I have a Pioneer VSX-1017 that is really good but the downside is for every type of input I have to have an output of that type to the TV. If I were to Wall mount the screen it would loook weird with all those connections.

Thanks

In short, no. You'll only be able to connect HDMI or component I believe, definitely no scart though.. That's the back of it anyway
#26
Voted hot but for £25 more you can get a Sony.
#28
Aww... thought this was perfect for me until I just read on AVF about the Zone 2 issues. I need a cheapish receiver for extension room that can pipe through sound to the kitchen (zone 2).

I'll swap the scart cable with the composite ones to connect to the receiver. I'm reluctant to get this until I know whether feeding the receiver with component, composite, hdmi is possible to output these with just 1 HDMI cable to the TV.

Maybe you should reference LBGuy in the deal post so that people (who are not aware of his notoriety) know that it's him telling people to "walk away" rather than you

From the manual

Video Connection Formats
Video equipment can be connected to the AV
receiver by using any one of the following
video connection formats: composite video,
component video, or HDMI, the latter offering
the best picture quality.
When choosing a connection format, bear in
mind that the AV receiver doesn’t convert
between formats, so only outputs of the same
format as the input will output the signal.

Shoooot, High end receivers should do this but its out reach at the moment.
