Smoking Hot Deal For A Hd Audio Amp
#2
I think its a great deal, if only I could find the excuse to buy it!
#3
This is the same priice as the 307 at Richersounds.
Must be good then IMO.
#4
This is an amazing deal , I paid £350 from richersounds last April when it was released and I have been really happy with it.

Hot stuff
#5
Ive just bought a second hand 606 - wish I had saw this first!

http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/onkyo/txsr507/onky-txsr507-sil silver one £200 at richer sonds, black one is £230. http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/onkyo/txsr507/onky-txsr507-blk so not a bad price.

you should be able to get rs to price match if you want to pick up.

What speakers to get to compliment that amp?
#10
Blimey great deal, I've been looking to upgrade my home cinema system, just can't justify it quite yet. Any ideas of bargain basement speaker packages to go with this? Using an all in one at the moment s I'd have to get that as well.
#11
Hot, great deal. now just have to find the money to buy it
#12
Can anyone tell me why home cinema amps need to be so damn deep?

Trying to hide this from the missus will be impossible (doesn't fit in the cabinet).

Are Cambridge Audio the only company who do a 'standard' (around 25cm) depth one?
#13
How would this compare to the HT-S3305 ?
I know this one comes without speakers, but is it possible to pick up a decent set of speakers for around £150?
Or would I be just better off buying the HT-S3305 and saving the hassle of finding speakers, wiring etc?
#14
Was going to buy a TX-NR1007 but I think its bit overkill for what I need for, is there any major difference other than the TX-NR1007 having THX badge and internet radio etc... Also will need some decent 5.1 ceiling speakers any suggestions?
#15
Great deal i have the 606 and it is a great amp. Pair this with the Q accoutic 5.1 speakers that were on offer a few days ago and you have a great package for under £500...
#16
So tempted...
#17
just ordered! many thanks!!!

need a new amp to host all my HDMI connections, and 4 together with 2 optical!
dam... only just got back from abroad and now spending more monies!!!
#18
May have read this wrong but is it true this doesnt carry audio over hdmi?

If you find any let me know, I was looking at the Kef Ci 130 2QR but they are ~£130 a go :-/

it does, I think you can also get sound from the telly without having the amp on, when your not using 5.1
#21
This certainly interests me as a newbie wanting some nice sounds for the front room.

Can anybody tell me what sort of speaker wire is required to fit the connections in the back of the receiver?

They look like some sort of coaxial connection.

Look at the first User Comment on Amazon. Apparently it DOES transfer sound over HDMI with no problems!
#23
It's probably not an issue for most as this is clearly a good price but it's worth mentioning that this won't do up-conversion for non HDMI sources to an HDMI output, then again i've yet to find anything that would for this kind of money. It does however do audio over HDMI :)

Hotter than a hot thing that's been left in the oven for a billion years.

Just bare speaker wire goes into the terminals at the back and the caps srew over to hold them in place.

As regards other people's speaker questions, it is a "how long is a piece of string" answer. If you are on a budget then you could just get the amp first and a really cheap set of speakers; I used the ones off a computer 5.1 setup until I got the cash together for a decent set. You'll really notice the difference when you get the decent speakers eventually
#26
Absolute bargain for such a great AV receiver. Heat added.

I was thinking
KEF Ci-200.3-QR x3 for Front L/R and Centre
KEF Ci160.2QR x2 for the Rear L/R

Then just need to find a decent sub... apparently the B&W subs are the ones to go for.
#28
Can anyone recommend tallboy speakers (with a shelf centre, and sub) to go with this? Thanks.
#29
Looking at the back image i can see speaker connections for the 2 rear, 2 front and centre speakers. Where does the sub get plugged into?
#30
Does this upscale? :?

And is this better than the Sony STRDG820?

No upscaling, and you wont find it at this price either.

Sub plugs in via a sub lead, same as a phono plug.

Cheers, I currently have a all in one system and the speakers including the sub just have the standrad cabling. (+ve and -ve)

I take it the speakers will connect ok but i will need to purchase a new sub?

Just got the STDRG820. It's got 7.1 but haven't got the extra 2 speakers anyway.

Would I be better returning it and getting this instead?
#37
Was planning to use this with a Optoma HD20 projector, would I be better going with a AVR that upscales?
#38
Got this amp myself....no complaints at all!

good price for this, i'm still holding out for an upconversion of analog to HDMI for me though so I don't need to change the signal input on my ****** tv! Hoping one will come out soon that's sub £200 (fingers crossed on the Denon 1610!!!!!)
