A Fusion of Rock-Solid Power and Hi-Def Precision

Exceeding even the highest expectations, the TX-SR875 A/V surround sound receiver deserves all the accolades it gets. The foundations of the TX-SR875 are its isolated power amplifier block (which supports a dual push-pull amplification design) and preamplifier. You'll also find a blend of onboard technologies to prime your home theater for high-definition playback. You're looking at the first HDMI equipped Onkyo receiver to take up to four components with 1080p video and master-quality audio capabilities. All other signals, from 480i on up, can be upscaled to 1080p via HQV Reon-VX. Also, THX,Audyssey and Texas Instruments lend the very best of their expertise to round out this high-quality control center.

Thanks so much for posting this - I was after one when Richer SOunds had them reduced to a similar price, but as hubby was in intensive care at that point I didn't want to stress him out with all the details (and didn't want to get it without consulting him properly first!) Just ordered one. Woohoo. Just got to get my lovely new projector & 125" screen now! [Have to wait until the end of the year though as I'm saving for it. :-( ]

Wow! Nice to see a woman interested in home cinema! They're normally the ones with stone faces as the hubby buys another piece of kit!

BTW Hope hubby is on the road to recovery.

I love gadgets, I can't help myself. The irony of all this is that I'm partially deaf, so whilst I will notice the difference in sound quality, it won't benefit me as much as it will my husband! Can't wait to get the huge screen though. :-)

Thanks - hubby is getting there slowly. He was in hospital for 4 weeks (had an aortic aneurysm), but he's making some progress. He's eating a bit more now. Just got to get him moving about a bit more and build his strength up. The scar is healing up well.

Damnation already married.....could you have a word with my missus...love her to death but she would happily watch a portable tv.....everything in my kit is budget, holding off on 5.1 until bluray combination kit is available at a reasonable price...

Do not wait, buy one, not only does the amp give fantastic sound but the picture quality both SD and HD better than my previous Onkyo (which I thought was brilliant 18 months ago) Wife dubious until she saw picture and heard sound.

Sounds like she needs to be trained! It took me a lot of time to persuade hubby to go hi def, but once I'd persauded him it didn't take long to get everything - within the space of a month at the beginning of the year we'd got a decent 46" TV, a few HD DVD players, new amp (got a SR605 at that point) and speakers, PS3 and a load of Blu Rays and HD DVDs! i didn't think I'd be able to persaude him to get an HD projector so soon, but he's really keen on getting one too. :-D

Training, it all comes down to training. ;-)

I'm hard of hearing too so can't benefit and I've got a 7:1 system (cinema room) and two 5.1 systems. Ahh well, at least I can hear the effects if not the dialogue (thank god for subtitles!)

Nice deal, I will have to wait until funds are a bit healthier.
Need to replace my 7 year old Yamaha Amp.

Just out of intereset the new xx6 versions of the 7 and 8 series have been announced, so you could either wait for those OR wait for the inevitable price-drop on the xx5 generation.

Just a heads up

Voted hot though, these amps are amazing!
