Wouldn't surprise me if Onkyo make the Sony amps, I've seen identical specs to the millimeter etc with Sony/Onkyo amps.
#24
None in stock in N.E :x rang head office he said they are shop repair old models wtf:w00t: beware
#25
We have an ONKYO receiver, to quote my husband 'excellent build quality and sound ' (real quote was built like a BSH !).

Anything not BNIB from any UK Company Retailer should be well branded as Grade-A/B or Refurbs otherwise it's false advertising

Never heard of RicherSounds, a well established AudioPhile based company to do that though.

Up and coming? They were the biggest selling AV last year.

Oh dear. Irony is just something the wife does to your shirts isn't it?

Don;t be fooled if you don't know the name, Most people have never heard of arcam or ribbon either and they all blow the likes of sony, pioneer, yamaha away.

I used to have a arcam alpha 8 cd player, i miss it.

albeit a flac release from pc to this amp isn't bad, but not the same.

I have what is probably abit of an obvious question for most of you. If I was to connect my PS3 to this via hdmi then from the receiver to my tv also via hdmi would it be able to take out the 5.1 sound component and pass on the 1080p picture completely unaffected? Also would it pass on just the picture or the audio component aswell? cheers
#33
Yes :)

Both :)
#34
Cheers! May well pick one of these up and start building a surround sound system. The only decision is whether to try and make it more future proof and get a 3D capable one.....
#35
I guess you'd need to take into consideration whether it's easier to just part with £149 for a cracking AV receiver or spend a few grand on a new 3D capable TV, new 3D BluRay player and a 1.4 HDMI receiver instead ;).

well, he already has a 3d capable bluray player in the ps3, so there's a few quid shaved off the top end ;)
#37
Yes well it would just be to buy a 3D capable receiver now but only to use the 3D capabilities in the future when the tvs have come down and its more of a mainstream thing with more content out there. Probably will just stick with this one though, £150 does seem an excellent price and if I need to buy a new 3D one in a couple of years I probably would of got my moneys worth out of it by then

Arcam or Ribbon, never heard of them. Walk away - unknown brand, for £20 more you could get a Sony instead if you look online hahahaaaaaaaaaaa :giggle:

i have one too. It doesn't recognise the Blu-Ray player unless it's having a good day and just presents me with an alternating black screen/screen full of video noise that changes back and forth every 6 or 7 seconds whilst playing the audio track.

Ive tried re-assigning the video source with no joy and have got so n arked with the damn thing that I've plugged the BD directly into the telly before I chucked it out the window.

Am I missing something 'cause if not it's going back......
