Firstly, sorry but I could not get an image file link to work.
I've been looking at the TXSR606 for a while while has also recently been on here but noticed this bad boy and took the plunge. If you need it in black its going to be £479.95 plus delivery which is still cheaper that I could find any place else.
OK, the 606 (http://www.hotukdeals.com/deal/296097/onkyo-tx-sr606-for-295-richersounds/) is maybe better value but this is an awful lot of amplifier for the money. It has THX Select 2 certification and 5 HDMI inputs. There are better pictures here: http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/4459
The Onkyo TXSR806 takes all that is good about the award-winning TXSR606 and then supercharges it!
Output power increases by 40 watts per channel (at 6 ohms) to produce a mighty 180 watts for each of the 7 channels. In addition and, perhaps more importantly, the TXSR806 gains the coveted THX Ultra 2 Plus certification with Loudness Plus. In effect this is a mark of quality assurance from the Lucas studios of Star Wars fame and is a sure sign of audio competence.
In addition to more power and higher quality sound, the TXSR806 also gains more inputs. Amazingly, the TXSR806 has a class-leading 5 HDMI inputs - amazingly, because this isn't the TXSR806's class that it leads, but the class above! With five HDMI inputs there really is no need to use any other connection for a fully digital home cinema system. As before, these are full 1.3a spec' meaning that you can input (and loop through) audio and 1080p video signals. Although this may seem like a minor improvement, the significance shouldn't be underestimated. With HD camcorders, HDTV boxes, DVD players, Bluray players, and computers all featuring HDMI outputs, the five inputs can easily be filled - leaving out a whole tangle of other cables that previously would have been used.
Another benefit brought about by the fitment of HDMI is the built-in HDMI Upscaling. Even if your DVD player or other HDMI-equipped source doesn't have an upscaling system, it's now possible to enjoy all your HDMI equipped video sources in full 1080p quality.
In most other areas the TXSR806 follows on from the award-winning TXSR606. Advanced features include DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus decoding. These HD processors are the future of AV and essential in the world of 1080p Blu-ray technology.
Yet, even with standard audio and video signals, the TX-SR806 turns in an impressive performance. Bi-amping circuitry means that bi-wirable speakers can effectively be powered by 2 amplifiers - giving even greater control and dynamic reach.
Like other Onkyo home cinema receivers, the spec sheet for the TXSR806 is near endless. We haven't, for example, even had chance to mention the Audyssey MultEQ equalizer for perfect room and speaker sync, the zone 2 output for multi-room systems or the R1 iPod compatibility - with full remote control. As ever, the only way to experience this mighty AV receiver is to see it for yourself.
