Was looking for an Xbox 360 adaptor for Xbox Live. Found this for under £20.
A normal adaptor can cost anything between £35-60 for the Xbox.

I know there are other methods like bridging connections etc. But i thought this would do the job for those who dont wish to go through all the trouble plus it is compatible with all the other consoles etc.

If you can find better let us know.

But does this plug into the xbox or into your computer?
If it does plug into an xbox does it work?

You're not going to be able to plug it into an Xbox 360 to connect to a wireless connection though, are you? From the specs, it reads that you plug it into a PC, and can then connect your PC to your Xbox 360 (providing it has an official wireless adaptor plugged into it), to share the connection or stream files etc.

Hence it's also compatible with the Nintendo DS - there are no USB ports on the DS, obviously, but again you'll just be able to plug it into your PC and share the connection to your DS.

total cost is £23.69 shipped to the uk

You plug it into your computer, and install it. And connects it through that. Providing you have a router.

So it's just a standard wifi adapter, NOT an xbox 360 adapter ?
#7
in fact it is just a usb wifi adapter which is not much use for those purposes listed at all and not comparable to a xbox wifi adapter at all

Normal wifi adaptors are not compatible. I have checked. And it is comparable..its another method to get on xbox live without paying £60.

I think there is a possibility it will work directly on xbox 360. Will confirm soon.

Or £5 for a cable to connect to my lan port, but thats not comparable to a 360 wifi adapter either :whistling:

For some people you cant do it through cable because the router is so far away. Thats why its wireless matey

but you said your self you plug this into a pc not into the xbox so how can you compare this to a xbox adapter?
and it certainly doesn't seem any less hassle than buying a small bridging access point

This wants removing before anyone buys one thinking it's an xbox 360 wireless adapter -

- Which it is not!

Edit: I believe I may have jumped the gun slightly, if you are planning on using this (and if it works) as a wifi adapter that you plug into your 360 instead of paying for the official microsoft one then its a good deal, but if not and you are planing on trying the vpn method to get otu of paying live subs then read below ;)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But your not getting on xbox live. You clearly have no clue what your talking about lol

the only way to play online games on the 360 without xbox live is VPN, you can use things like xlink kai to do this.

but don't bother because its rubbish and I shall explain why.

You can only play local multiplayer enabled games this way (not all are) and there is a ping limit of 20 or 30ms so unless you live very close to the person you want to play then forget about it.

If the 360 is already on the home network via a normal router connection then that's all you need, but as I say xlink kai and the other methods of playing the handful of decent lan enabled games is complete rubbish.

quit wasting time on this junk and just pay the subscriptions, every other method of playing multiplayer games on the 360 other than live are not even close to being comparable to live, accept it now move along now ;) hehe

methinks you knowest not yor elbow from your posterior :-D

To my knowledge there are NO USB dongles you can connect to the 360 - its either hard wired, microsoft official or an external ethernet bridge.

Happy if you can provide a web link to prove me wrong.

This is a bog standard (and overpriced) PC usb wifi dongle.
