Fuji on here earlier <£40 had panorama mode but can't find it now and don't know if it took 2xAA.

The competition.

For instance: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/20020116/Fujifilm-FinePix-AV150-14MP-3x-Optical-Zoom-2-7-inch-LCD-Digital-Camera-Black/Product.html

Is £50 ISO 3200, 14MP, 3x with wide angle lens and panorama (maybe even seamless stitching) mode.

If we get enough sub £40 cameras on here, they'll become sub £30 and maybe my favourite price- free

Why is this cold when it is new and £1 cheaper than the 386'C Panasonic?

I have no idea, there are some folk on here who don"t like the Hitachi brand though as they usually repeat rant on anything Hitachi from Argos, personal 1 off mishaps probably, this in the long run is putting other people off in my opinion.
ps, the Panasonic is 12mp, dearer and the heat on it is amazing, so strange..

More megapixels doesn't make a better camera, especially in consumer compact cameras where it is pretty much a marketing thing. It. More depends on the quality of the lens, and I can pretty much guarantee that you won't be able to pull 14mpx of image through the lens in this, making the increase in mpx pointless. By having more you are merely making larger files with more image noise in low light situations, slower camera performance and more strain when you want to edit them on the computer, email them or whathaveyou.

Yes, when you are printing very large images, and I'm talking about the sizes that need a £2500 printer to print, the number of pixels in the image can make a difference. However the optical quality is still more important, I've used a cropped 10mpx image to make a 60inch wide print before, with perfectly acceptable print quality. For most home users who never really make a print larger than a4 a 5mpx camera is more than enough, and with a decent lens would be enough for pretty much any larger print that you are likely to order.

More megapixels in this type of camera is just marketing BS, and the panasonic Is a better camera for the money.
