including a microwave that went back on a product recall due to being dangerous....

Cool - the cheapo Tesco Teknica dvd player is £17 something, but doesn't have USB.
I presume if it can play divx, it can also play xvid? (Are those two codecs synonymous?)

The 15 bar Onn expresso machine I bought last year is fantastic, if that's any yardstick for their dvd players......?

Good price that, suppose comes down to performance and reliability but I've always found that Asda will take anything back without a problem if it does go wrong.

These went down to £20 about 6 weeks ago in Asda Havant and vanished off the shelves almost overnight (before I could get one).

They've never had any more in and it looks like this model has been discontinued since there's no shelf space or SEL anymore, and other Asdas I've checked don't stock it either, so grab it while you can.

DVD players with USB ports are becoming as rare as rocking horse p** in supermarkets these days.

got one of these when they did the "vat free" electronics weekend for about 17 quid... plays divx/xvid from USB (not portable external HD)

struggles playing xvid when water is ok the screen.... is weird! jumps for a few seconds then goes normal, mustn't be able to process it. other than that, great piece of kit!

Yep, but it can take a few minutes to read the video from your usb stick before it starts to play it. Apart from that it's great.
I got my Dad one of these from Asda just before Christmas for the same price and it's well worth £20. If you've got a HDTV I'd recommend getting a HDMI cable with it. Think they were about £5(ish) for a short one when I got it.

Same question here - does this have HDMI output for digital-digital connections? If yes, then hot from me , if not then title is very misleading :?.

    Cheers!

hot!, now if only more players could come with HDMI as standard we will be in business

Should play off an external hard drive IF the hard drive has its own power source e.g. is also plugged into the mains.

Its a bargain - a few mates have them and swear by them
