Don't you mean starbursts? or is this the retro name brought back AND being sold at the old price???
#2
they are branded as Opal Fruits, as shown if you click on the link.
#3
Aren't these the limited edition packs they were supposed to bring out.

Or they could just be really old stock.
#4
i think they are the limited edition ones, this packet here says so,
the date on them is 12/04/09
so if they are limited edition then they are most probably trying to get rid of them
#5
Voted hot as you call them Opel Fruits not lameo Starburst!
#6
Hot. Love those sweets.

No way Alan!

The reason they are 10P is because Opal Fruits were phased out in 1998.

That's one "decade" ago or 10 "years."

If you think I am popping down to Asda to buy sweets that were out when Steps were popular, you're well wrong!
#8
They ARE STARBURST taste exactly the same, but for a limited amount of time they decided to call them Opal Fruits again.
#9
great find, couldnt resist at that price, just added 10 to my delivery order as off on hols with kiddies on fri, nothing like a few opal fruits for the journey mmm, brings back memories of my childhood

I'll disagree - they are Opal Fruits, and they taste different to Starbursts to me. But yes, they are the limited edition old name ones.

No, they've changed the flavours back to the Opal Fruits ones too.
#12
does it really matter what theyre called???? rebranding is a marketing trick, they used to be opal fruits back in the 70's and 80's then they used the international name but typical brits dont like change and they will prob sell better using the old name.
Mars are planning to rebrand the Snickers back to Marathon, its all to do with sales, but at 10p a pack of OPAL FRUITS im not complaining, bring it on...;-)
#13
ok, well they taste great, and can't grumble for 10p.
so there we go
first post slated!! lol
#14

You need to actually go to the site and then search for them. That page the OP linked to is a pop-up window or frame or something so you need the main site open (which holds the details of your "cart") or it has nothing to add to.

Do opal fruits count towards your 5-a-day?

I can confirm that these are Opal fruits which are release on a limited 11 week promotion, the bag is dtill £1, but the tubes have been reduced to 10p even though the price tag in the store says 31p (I just bought a load to stock up before they are gone again......)

Cheers
Paul

#27
...and here's the problem with these non supermarket deals. THEY'RE NOT DEALS. They're promotions.
#28
I bought 30 packets. Needless to say my wife thinks I am an idiot and I already feel a bit sick. In case anyone is worried there were loads so 30 barely made a dint in the stock.
#29
Ah the good old days, I remember a craze going round my school were someone would run up to you and knee you in the proverbials whilst singing to the tune of the Opal fruits advert, "two fruits crushed, doesn't that make your eyes water". I still have nightmares now....
